Those types of people will never learn and should be shot on spot. It's not the parents faults either in some cases, they are two faced. When dads around, they shut up, but the second a buddy is around and dad is at work, all other adults are worthless. Kids at school constantly act this way. Out of about the 200 in the grade level, maybe 95-100 act properly.:-(

 

I don't buy into the myth of the "Good old Days". I'm 45 and my dad used to talk to me about the good old days of the 1930's. His dad told him about the good old days, and so on...... Well my uncle told me about my dad and the good old days, sneaking out @ night, getting a poor education, fighting all the time, getting the **** beat out of him by his dad etc........In those days the rule was be seen, not heard. I actually think on average kids are more honest now and that's why we hear more out of em'. Just take care of yours and those around you and everything will work out.

Once a gobshite always a gobshite. The man has no class. He cares so little about what people think of him, yet always goes on about it. And I'm saying this before I've read the new interview. I've read so many I know what he's going to say (and anything new will be a massive lie).

 

Holmes is so jealous of Foreman it's unreal. It pissed him off that everybody loved George when he came back in the 90s and no one gave a flying **** about him and his Peanut Head. It must have irked him even more when the grills came flying off the shelves. He should go into the food and drink industry, I'm sure the Larry Holmes Finest Bottles of Whine will sell by the shitload.

 

But he originally said he'd fight Page after Frazier and Frank. Reluctantly, King and Suiliman agreed, then Holmes changed his mind after carrying his own jockstrap (which, by the time he saw Super Greg, was full of ****).

Some fair comments but i have to highlight Holmes didn't hold no "alphabet title". The WBC title at the time was definitely the most respected on earth and champions like Larry Holmes had made it this way. We all know he was the best heavyweight on earth at the time. Holmes had held the WBC title for 5 solid and respecable years and made 15/16 mostly sterling defenses of it.

These facts make it all the more freakish that he gave up the title for the sake of money, especially when he had already earned a cool 10mill vs Cooney. Larry screamed for respect during his entire title reign then turned around and disrespected the title and the public by dropping the belt, therefore forfeiting some of that hard earned respect he had garnered. It wreaks of double standard.

Larry's pent up long term frustration and anger completely got the better of him and he decided at the tail end of his championship WBC run f*** the public, i'll fight easier opponents, still get plenty of money, nab Marciano's record and get out. He himself admitted much of this. I still rate him enormously as a fighter and he has improved a bit over the years i think. He did do it tough early and never quite accepted it nor put it behind him.

I think early on legacy meant a lot as he was always crying out for respect, and even at the end he was sneaking along after Marciano's record.

What was Holmes's reason for fighting easy opponents back in 1979 and 1980 though ?

I guess the divsion must have been at a horribly low ebb if Scott Le Doux, Lorenzo Zanon, Alfredo Evangelista were worthy opponents.

Lucien Rodriguez came before Holmes's outright ducked Greg Page for easier options. Rodriguez was so bad even Frank Bruno fought him in a "European title eliminator".

 

I am more than willing to go the hammer on your 4 points, but you'd sure better promise not to scamper off to 25 different points and excuses as you always have before. You make a lot of asks but don't deliver yourself. Nor will i be putting up with any communistic style forcing into a corner per "just tell me yes or no" to ridiculously biased and loaded points.
