Yes Hearns did fight outside the United States-, Thomas Hearns fought in April of 1999 at the MENs Arena in Manchester, England. He won a 12 round decision over Nate Miller on the undercard of a Hamed fight. He won some title I think the IBO Cruiserweight title.

Actually Thomas Hearns also fought Ernie Singletary in the Bahamas on December 10, 1981.

Fighters chase money. They have very short careers. Wherever the big money is, that is where they'll go. No point in fighting in England or Germany if you can make twice as much fighting in Vegas. And no point fighting in Vegas if you can make twice as much fighting in Wales.

I may get pissed off at people never leaving their home countries to fight but I would probably do the same thing.

Then again imagine where Pac would be today if he only focused on fighting in asia and knocking out Japanese, Korean, Thai, Indonesian, and all the other guys who are brave enough to go to his home turf?

I would say that if you're American, then its very rare that fights overseas can make you more money. Of course there are exceptions to this rule as some fights in places like England can make a very attractive sum of money.

However, if you do want a legacy then traveling to places like Vegas, NY, Cali, and a few other American venues can give you the fame, universal acclaim, and more money than you could possibly make fighting at home. THAT IS provided that you are a good fighter...
