So, apparently a friend of one of the sparring partners who just turned pro asked him how the sparring with Mayweather went... what he said was basically it was the most amazing experience he's ever encountered. He was in awe of how good Floyd Mayweather is, and that he's everything he is cracked up to be. He so smart, and etc. He was asked about his punching power though and the kid said it wasn't that great.

Could it be true? It's appeared Mayweather has been putting on a lot of muscle, but it's been said before that power is something you have, not something that's made. You're born with your power. I'm not sure, that's just what I've heard. We've heard of Mayweather's "no so great" power before from Cotto, Maidana, Marquez, and so on so forth but what do you think?

Idk...I think Floyd could increase his power since he's using Heredia because remember the shot from Pac/Marquez 4 that knocked Manny down in the 4th round? Well, Marquez's power obviously increased a whole lot because the same, slow overhand right that's hit Manny 1,000 times before and never caused him to wobble knocked him on the canvas.

But on what the sparring partner had to say, take it how you want. Everything's speculation anyways.

Floyd adding muscle may end slowing him down, and not be as fluid with his punches as he usually is. as far as Marquez goes he has always had power, so by adding that extra something it made his punches just a little harder which might have been just enough, since he rocked Manny several times before, but Floyd's never been a big KO artist so roids may help a little but I doubt if it'll make him a KO machine.

Did cotto rip on floyds power? I always thought he had deceptively more pop behind his punches due to his technique and timing and speed. Mosley said it was more than he expected. That said, I'm surprised the sparring partner didn't say it was more... He looks to have added some mass, and well having memo help him, means it should be effective and produce results piwer wise.

Marquez, and I'm not tAlking just it ktfo6, seemed to have more power behind every punch in marquez pac 4. Also overall has seemed to hit harder after that fight as well.

Yeah, definitely agree with you on Marquez. And yeah, Cotto ripped on his power when he was asked about it on First Take. He didn't exactly rip on it, he just said he doesn't punch hard. I don't think he was being mean. He was just being honest. He didn't say it negatively or anything.

But, yeah, I think Floyd's power is underrated for sure. I just feel for a guy like Pac who's felt the power of Cotto, Mosley, Marquez, Margarito, and even Rios, that it won't feel super hard or dangerous to him, like their punches were.

"extra something" does not make your opponent run into your counter.

timing, speed and accuracy is what gives mayweather that extra pop, at the lower weights mayweather had ko power, at his present weight he has to sucker punch to knock someone out.

I'm talking about the KD, not the KO. That's what showed me Marquez's increased power + strength. And Pac was pulling back when Marquez threw the overhand right that knocked him down. It's actually that punch and Pac's reaction to it that makes me suspicious of PED's w/ Marquez.

Like I said, Pac's been hit with that punch 1,000 times. Yet, in this fight, where Marquez looked like he put on 10 pounds of muscle, the same punch that never seriously hurt him before, knocked him DOWN. Swept him off his feet. Even Pac looked surprised and shocked at the power.

You cant guage punching power through sparring, especially with Mayweather who I believe wears oversized gloves to protect his hands.

DLH compared Mayweather's power with Pacquiao's, he rated them equal, noting that Pacquiao's power has a little more snap to it but that Mayweather's was comparable.

Pacquiao hit DLH with everything but the kitchen sink and never put him down.
Mayweather actually wobbled DLH with a single shot then they fought, and that was at DLH's weight of 154 lbs.
Mayweather faced a DLH 15 to 20 lbs heavier on fight night than Pacquiao faced.

How many times do you Pac****s have to be told, Marquez showed up in fight 4 to throw down. Kill or be killed.
Man trained to load up with his shots.
He was'nt about to let the judges work their bogasity!

Dont blame Marquez for KTFO6, blame corruption from the prior 3 fights.:hey:deal

He's not working with Heredia (Even though I do not believe Heredia to be a cheat), Ellerbe confirmed it.

Marquez was not on PEDS, he is legit.

The only one on PEDS is Pac, look at the size of that head. It's as big as the damn Eiffel tower.

It appears that Void feels as if he must cheat in order to stay even with Pac. There world's top steroid expert and the world's best at cheating the drug tests. Didn't Heredia testify against his friends to keep from going to prison?

Dont blame it on peds but more of Pac recklessness ! He and Roach both thought they had plucked chicken in Marquez, and where reckless in their preparation for Marquez..
