    Here's mine,

    1. Wladimir Klitschko. Pretty easy pick, two belts and has easily the best resume.

    2. Nicolay Valuev-Former Champion who has wins over Ruiz, Barrett, Liakhovich and lost in a very close fight to Chageav

    3. Sam Peter-WBC Champ. Dropped the number 1 three times and has 2 wins over Toney, win over Maskeav, and a win over McClline.

    4. Alexander Povetkin-Unbeaten fighter whose biggest test so far is Eddie Chambers and hasn't come close to losing. Hasn't proven himself against an elite fighter yet, however and his leaky defense and lack of big power will probably stop him from being the number one guy.

    5. John Ruiz-I hate to do it but with Chageav out he makes the top 5.

    6. Sultan Ibragimov-Former WBO champ, nothing special but solid fighter.

    7. Vladimir Virchis-Big puncher. Limited, but big puncher.

    8. Eddie Chambers-Fast hands and gave Povetkin a good fight. Has stamina issues though.

    9. Tony Thompson-Beat up by Wlad in the second half of the fight but has good skills and ackward style could beat quite a few solid fighters.

    10. Juan Carlos Gomez-Win over McCall and has a fight with Virchis next that will answer a lot of questions about both.

Very respectable list apart from leaving Chagaev out, though I can see your reasons for doing so with him currently injured, I take it you would include him in your top 5 though?

Chagaev may be the best of them, but I can see leaving him out of the top ten. When was the last time he fought a top tier heavy?

15 months ago. And then 5 months before that. And then 8 months before that. All ending in either splits or majority decisions.

I think you can see where I'm going with this. :D

He pulled out because of his injury and he isn't going to be back in the ring for a while. He would be number 2.

    1. Wlad... The ring #1, WBO, IBF champ, and since 2004: 7 straight Ring Top Ten victories, 6-0 with 5 KOs in World champ. bouts and dominated Peter in the second half of the fight.

    2. Peter.. gave wlad all he could handle in the early rounds, has 4 solid wins can be concidered #1 if he beats Vitali convincingly..

    3. Valuev.. could easliy still be undefeated only losing a MD to Chageav, and could stay undefeated over the next few years.. he has a granite chin and boxing skills that are improving with each fight to go along with power.. He could be very hard to beat over the next 4 years..

    4. Povetkin.. had another good win today with a KO over Sykes.. Has only lost around 5 rounds his whole career, while having only 16 fights, has already dominated several proven HWs: Byrd, Donald, Chambers and Friday Ahunanya.. Hopefully he will face another big name like Toney or Rachman before he challenges Wlad..

    5. Chageav.. The undefeated WBA champ has given The Ring #4 Valuev and #8 Virchis their only losses. He is fast and powerful in both hands and has never been knocked down, even while facing a couple power punchers.. He also has vitories over Ruiz, Sprott, and Skelton. Will face Ruiz-Valuev winner in the winter.

    6. Haye... WBA, WBO, WBC Cruiserweight Champ, has only one loss early in his career - 11th fight. Has an astounding 20 KO's in 21 bouts including Mormeck, Enzo, and Bonin.. He will be the fastest puncher in the division immediatly and his speed combos combined with added power will spell the doom for many , if not all, of the HWs..

    7. Ibragimov.. Slick southpaw that has good power against people more his own size. Has convincing wins against Briggs and Holyfield..

    8. Arreola.. While still untested at the highest level, he has been destroying whomever does get in the ring with him. He has 12 KO's in a row and no one has lasted more than 8 rounds with him.. A good pressure/power fighter with a good chin, which will give any HW problems.. Just entered the Ring top 10

    9. Virchis.. at 6'5 250 good chin and alot of power, his only loss was a real close decision against Chageav in what should have been a draw.. Has a battle against JC. Gomez coming up in Sept. and the bout will show if he is Top 5 material or not...

    10. Ruiz.. His only losses has come to very top talent: RJJ, Holyfield, Toney, Chagav, Valuev, but has also beaten Rachman, Mccline and a '01 Holyfield.. His next bout with Valuev will show if he is ready to become a top contender in the HW division again..

Chagaev fought, and beat, Skelton this year.. Why would pulling out of the fight knock him out of the top ten.. He is still in the Ring's top 10 and he is still WBA champ..

Not to mention he will fight again at the end of this year. You have Ruiz in but he has only fought twice since 2006..

I'm surprised you don't have Thompson in there. I think he UD's Peter, draws with Valuev, iffy with Povetkin. Confuses the hell out of Arreola, and beats Virchis and Ruiz.

he would have been #11.. Actually Thompson could have been anywhere from 8-11.. Peter and Valuev has simply proven already they are top 4 HWs but head-head he might be able to pull off a UD against peter but would get beat by valuev.. Povetkin has to high of a workrate as does Arreola for Thompson.. But against Virchis and Ruiz you could very well be right... It came down to Virchis and Ruiz have beaten better compition so far...

But in hitting Wlad more times than any one else, thompson did, like Merchant said, "do better against Wlad than alot of other "better named" opponents.. I might have underrated Thompson a bit..

Those better names, that were Wlads opponents, who thompson did just as well as, or better than, include: Botha, Mercer, Mccline, Brewster, Byrd, Brock and Ibragimov.. Not bad...

If the rules were properly enforced against Ruiz he would have lost to all those guys. The only reason Ruiz ever was in the rankings in the first place was because of King, and that's why he got away with his excessive holding and faking "low blows.":yep
