i watched the canto oguma and canto gonzales fight at youtube... im actually unsure if donaire beats canto in his 'current' level since he has not reached his peak yet.

I'll go out on a big limb here since the thread's no fun if everyone plays it safe- I think an in-shape Eddie Chambers could beat a young Foreman. He's a very solid fighter defensively who would prove extremely hard to hit cleanly with the slower, sloppier shots Foreman threw, and has the handspeed advantage to frustrate the hell out of Big George.

    :-( nope

Eddie Chambers is okay when he works at his own pace, but peak Foreman would be piling on the pressure. He'd get either blasted out early, or would get broken down in the mid-rounds. That said, Eddie showed some improvements with his stamina last time out. I hope he does well.

I think Nonito Donaire could cause Zarate serious issues at Bantamweight. Whether he beats him or not is a different story, but the only thing keeping Donaire from making something of himself is his head. All of the tools are there. Great boxer, great jab, and that left hook counter is a thing of beauty. Power, speed, and accuracy. He has also took good shots in the past, and despite being badly shaken, has regathered his composure quickly. I'm impressed with Nonito.

    Donaire giving Zarate serious issues?

I think thats almost as far a stretch as Chambers hanging with Foreman.

Good thing I didn't come on here looking for approval. :D I'm still sticking with that pick- Big George never fought quick, pure boxers on the way up until the end of his first career, and they'd always be his Achilles' Heel.

C'mon ladies and germs- let's get some outside the box picks going on here and don't be so shy about it. Great fighters have lost to guys below their top level hundreds of times. Yeah, it seems like your credibility might go down the toilet once the people watching like hawks tear your argument to shreds, but it's more fun to be on the side choosing the upsets :good

Here's another one to chew on, digest, and spit back at me like a velociraptor- Abraham KO6 Hearns.

    I wouldn't

If a fighter is unteasted I would always give the great the benefit of the doubt baring an enormous disparity in weight class.

Is Haye untested? I'd pick him over Patterson.

Is Chico Corrales great? I'd think Valero could have KO'd him.

Speaking of Chambers, and this is somewhat on topic...some guys are getting a bit carried away with his victory last night over Dimetrenko (?) and are comparing him to Jimmy Young...well he ain't as good as Jimmy Young...and would NOT hang with the Foreman that Yound defeated.

    :good

there's a thread on he General Forum saying he could hang with Joe Louis:patsch (Apologies just noticed it's here in Classic and was posted by that spastic with a hard-on for the brown bomber)

Admittedly the guy has nice skills but to say he could beat an ATG like Foreman is laughable. His showings in the Povetkin and Peters fights have been quickly forgotten.

    Zarate would annihilate Donaire.

Ummmm.........oh and Pintor would beat JuanMa.

However, I favour Carl Froch over Sven Ottke if that counts for anything :good

Why? Penelosa was able to stand and trade with Lopez, Pintor would be able to stand and trade, and I also think he would nullify Lopez's workrate on the inside. This is a man who went 14 rounds with Wilfredo Gomez. From what I've seen I do not rate Lopez's punching power on the same level as Bazooka's............Pintor stops Lopez late, assuming he hasn't got an iron chin, we can't be certain yet. If he has, Pintor points. Just seems a far more effective fighter IMO.
