Just say a year of 18 months earlier Curry would have only been a narrow fave, but recent performances by BOTH had Curry a raging hot fave with not many favouring him at all. Curry's superb performances per Starling II, LaRocca and Jones (who gave Milt HELL) left people with no illusions.

I'm not old enough to remember it at the time. I vaguely mind of Curry-Honeyghan a year later.

JT was at the local bar with his pipe and pint watching it live.

I thought Curry was going to win, but by no means did I think it would be a 2 round blowout. I was thinking more along the lines of a decision or late stoppage.

..................Wow; Tigeredge, thank you so much for posting that. I had that entire prefight program and the fght of course on VHS for so many years before the damn thing wore out. Haven't seen that in years, really brought me back.

I favored Curry at the time, it was hard not to. McCrory was seen as a decent fighter that might trouble Curry with his jab for awhile, but I saw Curry wearing him down with a body attack and stopping him late. I have to admit in no way did I see a second-round blowout coming.

Curry was really something at that time. We knew he was good when he first beat Starling in '83, but the rematch was even more convincing, and then he went on that incedible tear.........

He beat down undefeated Italian (and hopeless hot dog) Nino Larocca in six, then looked damn near unbeatable in slicing up Colin Jones. God, he was so sharp and fast that night it was incredible. You really did get the impression as you watched that on TV that you were watching the dawning of a truly great fighter just approaching his prime. He was that impressive.

Then it all culminated in this fight for all the marbles. Curry couldn't have been more impressive, he just destroyed Milton. One of the prettiest hooks you'll ever see in that fight, I think.

It was all of this, that two-year improvement and winning streak, that led many to say at the time that he deserved the number-one P4P slot. I know KO Magazine ranked him ahead of the Great Shaven One, and honestly, at the time I think it was deserved.

Curry easily makes my top 10 favourites. His style was so good on the eye. Not crude, but not particularly flashy either. Extremely controlled, accurate, and techincally among the best of the last 30 years.

Curry, by a slight nod.He was more impressive in his defenses than McCrory was.

Curry was an excellent fighter, thanks for the videos. There's not a great deal of information about him. Please could anyone tell me, what caused his downfall to be so quick and dramatic ?
