Just watched Stevens KO Saul Roman in the 1st round with a cracking knockout.

Looks really powerful at middleweight but where do you rate him in terms of the Middleweight division?

There is talk about him stepping up to fight GGG next? Is he ready? Does he have a realistic chance of troubling GGG?

In the post fight interview Stevens seemed to disrespect Macklin, calling him "a scared fighter", perhaps maybe a fight with Macklin could work as a kind of benchmark measure to see how he compares to GGG at this time?

I can't see many of the other "big names" in the division wanting to get involved with Stevens without there being a belt on the line.

    What are your thoughts?

He doesnt really have a chance against GGG but he has legit power and has the speed to catch Golovkin, he will at least test Golovkin's chin before getting stopped I wanna see it, it will be an exciting fight and hopefully we get to see Golovkin hit hard

Stevens said, live on TV, that it was Golovkin's people who wanted to fight him, not his people. Steven's promoters do not want him to fight Golovkin.

Roman is not a ranked fighter, before the fight Roman said that he did not feel well at 160, he feels much better at 154. Roman came up to 160. Roman is not in Golovkin's class. Hell, he is not in Macklin's class. Compare Golovkin/Macklin fight with Martinez/Macklin. For him to say that Macklin was a scared fighter is totally out of ignorance. Macklin is not afraid of anyone, he is much superior to Roman. Why didn't Stevens fight a ranked fighter? Macklin is or was ranked, not Roman..............

Stevens is a plodding big puncher who just relies on his power.

Golovkin would see his hooks coming a mile off and any decent world class fighter would box his ears off.

    Yep.

Stevens is abour Euro level at best.

Comes forward no head movement wings left hooks with a bit of spite in them. Macklin would smash stevens all over the show - might even be a good comeback fight for him if Curtis is suddenly a name after one highlight reel KO

Another American getting overhyped by yanks desperate to have the #1 guy in the division. Stevens reeks of desperation because honestly, his record isn't even that good anyway with losses against bums. At least the other American hype jobs such as Wilder have impressive looking records.

I'd fancy Macklin to do a number on him.

The only way that fight would happen is if Stevens wins a title.I don't think he wants Golovkin, but he'd lose if he got a crack.Stevens vs Macklin would be a good 50 50 fight on a US bill, but it won't happen as a non title fight.
