he got torn up yes, but out of all the fighters he hit GGG clean with counters in the fight and had very good defense. GGG just hits like a truck.

After Stevens got knocked down, GGG knew he couldn't rush in because he was wary of Stevens counter and power. He took his time and gave him a slow beat down, but he respected Stevens in there.

Stevens was catching and shooting GGG.

3:17 with a huge left hook that would have tkaen any other fight out. GGG took it well but did stumble a bit.

The only things Stevens was catching were right hands to the head and lefts to the body

I agree Stevens threw a lot more back at GGG than most of his other "victims". Stevens was brave and very very tough.....

Thats cos stevens is underrated. Just didn't have chin or physicality to bang with GGG and thats not really a knock on him.

Agree with the OP. I didn't like Stevens' pre fight trash talk, but he certainly had the guts to back it up in the ring. He caught Golovkin with the single hardest shot I have seen anybody catch him with. Chin check passed, lol. Actually Curtis has very fast and powerful combinations, he jsut doesn't seem to have the footwork to close his opponents off properly. I reckon he could put most guys on the deck if he catches them.

I was under the impression GGG could have ended it sooner but wanted to punish him for all of his **** talk. Namely posing with his posse next to a coffin with Golovkins name on it.

Kazakh hero GGG admitted he had prolonged Stevens’ suffering after knocking him down in the second round. He brutalised the American fighter in the sixth round, forcing Stevens’ mother to briefly leave her ringside seat, then smashed him all over the ring in the eighth.

    Excerpts from a Kellerman interview:

“Yeah, I remember this fight – you’re right, Max, I know,” Golovkin told Kellerman, giving a chilling account of what was his 15th consecutive knockout in a 28-0, 25 KO record.

“I don’t lose control. I feel him. Just, you know, I can beat him after the first time I knock him down.

“And for me, it’s more important like, beat him like punish him. Beat him, beat him, beat him.

“He understands, he has best mouth. He understand, this is boxing. Please respect boxing. Respect sport. Not this streetfight.

“You want streetfight? Let’s go. I show you. Right now. We have time. We have 12 rounds. I show, every round.

“I beat him, beat him, beat him. His corner, respect his corner. He has to understand, he said, stop. Stop the fight.”

Kellerman: “You wanted to teach him a lesson?”

    GGG: “Exactly.”
