I watched the fight last night almost with my eyes closed because I knew what was going to happen. Great attitude but this is a man who two years ago fought Gavin at 147 , he is now older and fighting down at 135. At the weigh in I thought he looked drained , then when the knockout came it wasnt a shot he hasnt taken before , but his body just couldnt hold it. An accident waiting to happen unless he moves back to a weight he can actually fight at. Peace.
Wish you had gave me the insight prior to the fight, I would of made a reasonable size bet on mathews. I was thinking mathews to win as he is the boxer whereas woodhouse wasnt from the offset, left it alone as woodhouse was saying he is big for the weight and some on here were saying he could win by Ko.
It's no secret that Derry's a better boxer but Woodhouse wanted a toe-to-toe fight, he'd have had a great chance with that imo but Derry didn't play ball (and of course, why should he?) and used superior-level boxing skills to nullify Curtis' come-forward pressure style. I really wanted Curtis to win but suspected Derry might just have this. Gutted for Woodhouse but will always support him, he is always exciting and full of heart.
Curtis deserved his chance Saturday. Showed a lot of courage. But understand the sentiments about his weight. Not much at light welter british wise
