I have seen some very mixed clips from Cus. In some he states very sensible opinions and in others he is a straight up loon. I remember watching him say Patterson was better than Ali and lost to Ali and Liston because of back issues? Just wondering your take on the guy. this has nothing to do with his boxing training, he was obviously great at that. Im questioning his knowledge of the sports atheletes.
Well meaning, not the legend that everyone may think of him as. If you consider his words the same as you'd consider any other elder you know, you get a much better view of the guy. You have to look on the in-betweens for a lot of these guys we place up on pedestals.
U have to take trainers excuses for their fighters w a grain of salt. They r a reflection of the corners and w that comes business depending on how they’re viewed. I never take what they say about their own fighters seriously. Their opinions on other fighters is more interesting.
Buddy dont you ever let me catch you using internet slang again. This is unc territory and you will treat it as such.
Donald Trump once claimed to be a stable genius. You can be one or the other, but unfortunately you can't be both.
Mike loved him because he had never had anyone in his life who cared for him prior to Cus. However, I do wonder if Cus ever actually saw Mike as a son, as Mike saw Cus as a father figure, or if Cus merely saw him as a young prospect to groom in his style. Sort of like the Blind Side family who recently got exposed.
"Let me tell you something. All the prophets, all the gods you ever know about. If they had a son, their son couldn't beat my fighter. You know why? Because he is MY fighter." Admiration is one thing, but in Mike's stories Cus clearly displays a more philosophical side.
