They seem oddly in line with the guy who trained the fictional Rocky character.

Anyhow, he had some odd ones.

For example, when a fighter gets KOED, he chooses to get KOED. That is to say, his will is broken.

What if a fighter is knocked unconscious?

Discuss this, and anything else that relates to the topic.

The Mick character is pretty much straight out of central casting, not just for boxing but all sports.

The choosing to get KO'd is not always true, but you can generally see the difference.

D'Amato's philosophy has absolutley nothing to do with a reality and all to do with establishing a winning philosophy in his fighters. Of course a fighter who is knocked unconscious by a counter during a winning effort (think Walcott v Marciano) hasn't "chosen" to be KO'd, but fighters do make that choice all the time.

Think Tyson v Williams or De La Hoya v Hopkins.

If Cus can preclude that possibility in his fighters (Which is what the quote you have run across is all about) he can eliminate one way in which his fighter might lose. That's all it is really - indoctrination rather than philosophy.
