Jamie Kennedy investigates the popularity/dislike of Michael Bisping; concluding that the widespread criticism of him on some internet sites/forums is unfair. Check out Jamie's full piece here: http://britmma.co.uk/#/cut-bisping-some-slack-why-th/4544658577
As a Brit I'm not a great fan of Bisping(find him boring to watch most of the time) but its pretty obvious american nationalism drives most of the hate for him, even moreso since the UFC looked to exploit it on TUF. There are a ton of americans who've talked 10 times more smack than he has that don't get 1/10th of the hatred.
never had a problem with him. when he was on tuf i found him probably the most reasonable guy in the house. i was actually quite impressed with the care he showed for ross pointon.
So, I'm supposed to love Bisping because he's a gatekeeper who makes more money than Franklin did for knocking out Liddell, or Randy did for choking out Toney? That is why I should like Michael "The ****" Bisping? **** him! He's a waste of space, just a tool used so Brits can tune in. I'm a fight fan, not a promoters fan.
I can pretty much garnetee you Franklin and Randy earn alot more than Bisping when PPV percentages and lockerroom handouts are taken into account.
More a response to the article posted. In no way am I going to like Bisping because he plants asses in seats. I'd rather the money given to him be given to Dan Henderson, since he left the UFC over money issues. Seriously, I'm supposed to like Bisping because he's popular with some national crowd? Naaaah **** that noise. If he's a good fighter and the ****ing man, then let that be the factor that puts asses in seats, and let that be the reason I love him. The article is saying I should like him for other reasons, the reasons that MMA is all ****ed up right now.
