have you seen Latif Mundy? I think he'd qualify under this thread title although he was never a contender and finished 10-9. He's a Philly fighter who took fights on short notice in the other guy's home town and was "slick." I saw him fight Lamar Russ a few years back and he made it tough although Russ was the prospect and much bigger. He also beat some decent fighters like Josh Snyder and George Rivera who were good fighters in the DC area at the time. He's one of those guys who probably could have been a contender if he had the right people behind him. He'd probably make a good trainer now.

Yeah, I ruined my chess by playing too much online speed chess (pretty much the only chess I get to play these days).

Yeah,...and a robbery to boot. I became aware of this fight long ago (like in the mid/late 60's)...and know that Mims deserved that fight...he made even Joey Archer look foolish reports said.

The big drawback to being a "cutie" in boxing is that you are far less likely to be a drawing card. There are exceptions. For instance, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. has been a terrific drawing card despite being a "cutie." But Mayweather has a colorful personality.
