Cutting off the ring is a lost basic fundamental. Only 2 guys do it to perfection....

    Errol Spence and Gennady Golovkin.

Tonight watching Porter slip all over the ring was atrocious. His father needs to be removed as head trainer because Shawn has no basic fundamentals. He just brawls, he cannot box, and the Julio Diaz fight was proof of that and he has not changed.

Errol Spence managed to do what a 20 year veteran (Pacquiao) could not, cut off a rangy outside fighter and break him down. Spence is underrated in the way he dismantles his opponents at such a young age. Every fight makes him prepared for the next. I don't see any 147 fighters that can deal with him based on the basics alone.

Gennady Golovkin for what its worth has beaten guys so easy it makes him look like he only fights bums. Yeah I troll that **** but realistically that man can ****ing fight. No he will not fight someone that recognizes what he is doing because it is all "FUNDEMENTALS OF BOXING".

This is how I know who goes to a boxing gym on this board and who is **** riding or just **** talking. The main reasons E.E. look dominate is because they practice, practice, practice, basics, basics, basics!!!
If you have a real coach and not some old lacky he will teach you that before you ever put a piece of gear on.

Thats why Cubans are so difficult to fight (in and out movement and angles), thats why those Russians hit so hard ( not power but punch placement) Porter was winging punches , not planting his feet before he punches just... Wow.

Yeah he's not that great at it, that being said he still beat Thurman.

Because I'm not that familiar with his division or the competition in it. I've seen his recent fights and he does it well but his opponents are not trying to get away from him. I've watch 4 of his fights and every opponent was there for the brawl, no backing up.

He is learning as he goes along. The same way Lomachencko got that crash course in low blows from Salido and now look at him.

Porter actually cut the ring off well, I thought. He was cutting off the exits and trapping Thurman.

But I agree it's a lost art, and that Porter has a lot to work on with regards to the fundamentals.

Yes and no. Yes he manage to trap Keith but that was because he would rush in and grab him.

Porter was sliding like he had on dress shoes. Thats why he looked off balance and the same reason Broner dropped him.
Porter is always square and never blades his body. Every martial art teaches you to blade your frame and not give people so much area to hit. Porter had no clue.

Look at the fight highlights and you can tell now that the adrenaline has slowed.

    Outstanding post, all around.

I'd say Chocolatito is pretty good at it too. Maybe even slightly better than GGG.
