Here are the weight categories for women:
    45 kg - 48 kg Flyweight
    51 kg Bantamweight
    54 kg Featherweight
    57 kg Lightweight
    60 kg Light Welterweight
    64 kg Welterweight
    69 kg Middleweight
    75 kg Light heavyweight
    81 kg Heavyweight
    81+ kg Super Heavyweight

I had my first fight in Lightweight just to be on the safe side and I weighed in at 54.67kg (geez, those scales are accurate). This is without any deliberate weight adjustment or lifting back then (we're talking October 2011 where I walk around at 55kg anyway). Now that I have had some weight training and put on some bulk I walk around at 57kg. I am 165cm/5'5 tall with 160cm/63 inches reach.

My question is- would it be advisable if I cut back and go into the Featherweight division for my upcoming fight in April? I would have the reach advantage (most girls in that category are around 5'3) but am not sure how this will affect my overall strength. Or should I just stay in lightweight? I am on the fringe of Light Welter without dieting so should I try out for that instead?

My friend who came second in state comp told me that I should be fitting at the weight I feel strongest whilst still being relatively lean. I have no idea where that is meant to be...

    Thank you.

Since you have trained hard to hit 57kg I would fight at Lightweight and see how it feels.

Cutting down to featherweight after you just worked so hard to get bigger would be a step backwards at this point imo.

If you hadn't just got done training in a way that added 2kg to your frame and hopefully extra strength I would have said yes drop the kg and fight at featherweight but now it makes no sense to do that.
