Hello everyone, I walk around at about 190 pounds and I'm trying to cut down to 175. I've been regularly doing distance running, hill sprints, aerobic conditioning, sparring, and pad and bag drills and I'm at 185 pounds. I've been drinking more water, and cutting back junk calories---eating only lean foods (organic peanut butter, tuna, turkey, etc.) no soda and no fast food in nearly 2 years. My problem is, as I try to lose weight I start to feel physically sick, and tired. Am I doing something wrong? I read that Joe Calzaghe was hungry most of the time he fought at super middleweight, but It's very hard for me to feel good while trying to cut calories.
You are probably cutting too much, or your macros are off. Shoot to lose a pound a week, thats a calorie deficet of 500 a day (3500 cals = 1 lb. of body fat). Try intermittent fasting as well. cut carbs drastically, up protien. it's hard to tell without knowing more about you and your diet.
Thanks for the response. I eat mainly all organic food. Foods I eat the most: - Organic peanut butter and honey sandwhiches on whole wheat bread with no high fructose corn syrup or preservatives - Turkey Sandwhiches with a slice of cheese and tomato - Ozarka bottled waters (sometimes with flavoring packets) - Bob's red mill Muesli in the mornings w/ a glass of whole milk - once a week I will have some sweets ( mostly pie, ice cream, or pizza) - Coffee occasionally with no creamer or sweetner - no soft drinks - no candy bars, potato chips, etc.
Cut out the bread. And the milk. And really, if this is a serious goal, the sweets too. Up your cadio, and you should be fine. It's all about desire and discipline. There really are no shortcuts. Keep a food journal. Track your marcos. I would shoot for less than 100 grams of carbs to start per day, and then reduce if needed. What is your age and height? Is this for competition or just for overall health?
- OK, so no bread- no milk. gotcha. My question: What is a Macro? Can I use anything to replace bread, because sandwhiches are very convenient. Also, can I switch from whole milk to skim milk? or just cut the milk out entirely?
-_- google it. and the milk and bread depends on you. alot of people say milk bloats them up and swear by no milk. I personally live off milk when losing weight because i find for me it helps. How about you calorie count for 1 day and see how much your acctually eating. You'd be surprised how many people think they are eating less then they actually are The guy is 84 kg and physicly active and your suggesting so lil carbs? Why didnt you know protien and carbs have the same calories per gram. I'd be more worried about how much fat he's consuming (he eats a lot of peanut butter) which has more then twice the cals of protien and fat per gram.
Try eating white meat : chicken, fish, on the meals and inbetween every 3 in 3 hrs fruits a protein bar (Low calo) do cardio 2x a day 30 mins . That should help.
Peanut butter sandwitches make me gain weight pretty quick, if i wanna lose weight i stop eating them and replace crisps/biscuits with turkey breast chunks.
