Cycling for leg endurance

    Personally, I think cycling is a good compliment to roadwork, but not a replacement.

    nothing to do with cycling, but squat jumps are good for explosive power, duck walking is good for building leg strength if you dont mind looking like a wierdo

    I agree. It's no secret that roadwork is real hard on the ankle and knee joints while cycling is much easier on them without the constant pounding. With roadwork, your arms are an integral part of your pacing and helps in balance. Whereas with cycling, your arms are pretty much stationary and have nothing to do with anything but helping you remain in the saddle while the legs do all the work.

    However, if I knew how my knees were going to feel at this point in my life when I was running so much, I likely would have taken up cycling much sooner and not run as much.

    I did two of these routines on a stationary bike this week. It was insane, but felt great. I may start cycling more often.

    I do squat jumps as a part of my plyometrics workout, good exercise gets real hard when we do it combined with that exercise not sure of the name but your in a pushup position and your bringing each knee into your chest while tge other one is on the ground.
