I'm thinking DM. He was the naturally bigger guy, beat opposition that was comparable if not better and didn't lose until he was really starting to push old age. I like Kessler but I have to give the other guy the edge.
Yeah, well Dariusz woudn't beat Ward or Calzaghe, even at 175. Froch is a different issue, but Kessler still pulled out the first fight.
The only people who think kessler is good are calzaghe fans just to try and make his record seem less padded.
Saw Dariusz fight twice in the 90's. He is being sold short here. Excellent boxing skills, light feet, an intelligent aggressive approach, good power and a great power jab. He would definitely give Ward and Calzaghe very tough fights. Nothing would be a given. He would work Kessler far more convincingly than Froch did.
The point he was making is that you were giving Michalzewski kudos for not losing until he was past it, whereas in fairness he probably would have lost to both of the guys Kessler lost to in or near his own prime.
Not sure of that. DM did beat Virgil Hill, who was a great fighter and the man at Light Heavyweight. No reason to assume Ward and Calzaghe moving up and beating him is a sure thing.
Especially not the aged Calzaghe who beat Kessler near the end of his career and was decked by both Jones and Hopkins. Don't get me wrong. I give Joe a great deal of credit for all the above wins, but I can't see an aged 175 lb rendition of Calzaghe beating a prime DM. Ward might do it though.
