Calzaghe from the Lacy fight at a 171 catch weight would beat Dariusz. Ward would beat him everytime at any weight.

Yeah, I think DM could hurt him early and finish him off.

I don't know about Ward, I think Froch is probably as physically strong as DM but slower and nowhere near the overall puncher. I don't think its a fight Ward would take unless he could convince DM to move down to SMW, which would be unlikely.

True. I just have nightmarish memories of what Ward did to Dawson when they fought at SMW. Not saying Dawson is better than DM but that beating was chilling.

To be fair, adjust for pfp instead of everyone moving up (and one guy being old) to fight him. If you do that, he's maybe slightly better than Froch or Kessler, but definitely worse than Calzaghe and Ward. And Froch probably has him on resume.

It was a bad beating. I'm not sure what to make of Dawson. I think he'll be remembered as a guy who matched up well against a certain type of fighter. Odd few years ago he was being looked at as an heir apparent of sorts.

Ward is of course spectacular and complete, but DM is such a monster at LHW. Its interesting, I can see Ward frustrating his way to a points win or DM overwhelming him with his effective punching. Hill is certainly the best win between all three men being discussed though.

Its interesting how Darius managed to go through his whole career in the shadow of Jones. I still don't know who's fault it was that fight was never made. Upon beating Virgil Hill, DM had a strong case for lineage and dumped two of the belts he had because of some stipulation with the alphabet organizations. He may very well end up being the best "forgotten" lightheavyweight of all time.

Lacy was a SCRUB! What's so hard about this to comprehend?

DM was SEVERAL levels better than Lacy.

Calz would NOT beat the DM that beat Virgil Hill. He'd get his ass kicked.

Calzaghe is THE most single overrated fighter on ESB.

He's underrated on a few forums, but he's soooooooooo OVERRATED on this one.

I always thought Kessler took the first one comfortably. Not that it wasn't a close, I just feel scoring it a draw would be generous for Froch.

Even so, I'd take Darius here. Would be a fun fight for sure and I wouldn't rule Kessler either

Because it makes no sense to compare. I'm not even sure if that was the best version of Joe. He was just made to look like Superman because Lacy was such an inept scrub.

Calz best performance was possibly against Charles Brewer. He was younger, quicker, and sharper in that fight than he was against Lacy.

Still, I don't think he beats a prime DM. I think it's pretty hard to beat a prime DM if you don't have enough power to put hurt on him. And I don't think Calz had enough pop to put hurt on him.

Fight would have never happened anyway. Calz would have never came to Germany, and DM would have never came to the UK.
