D. Tiger vs John The Beast Mugabi, Both Prime, 15 Rounds. 160 lbs.

The Beast could knock Tiger it due to superior height, but Tiger was shorter than everyone he beat. Skill-wise, Tiger was vastly superior and could definitely outbox, but in a slugfest, idk, Tiger's chances are lower, though still fair for him. Mugabi's fight w/ Hagler makes this a difficult decision. A slugfest w/ Tiger is not likely to use Mugabi up like one with Hagler. 50/ 50. If Tiger boxes, he has a 60/ 40 chance. If he slugs w/ the Beast, his chances of losing are 60/ 40.

 

I feel like it would end up being a slugfest due to their size dimensions and relentless mindsets.

 

The Beast has his moments in the first few rds then Tiger takes over. Tiger UD

 

Might be like the DePaula fight. The bigger, inexperienced challenger shocks the world and floors the Tiger a couple times, but he dies out once he sees he can't keep him down.

 

You have to favor Tiger as the better fighter who would wear the Beast down, still there's that nagging proposition of Tigers style walking to John Mugabi. I think Mugabi would lose but he's a very dangerous underdog and a KO win isn't unthinkable

 

I think Mugabi may have been technically better, quicker, and maybe more explosive. The problem is that Mugabi came to knock guys out and he had no plan B. Tiger's plan was the same as Mugabi's plan, and he was granite tough and immensely strong. I think it might go like some of Tiger's other puncher opponents, they start well and maybe even look good early but wilt later before getting stopped. Iirc correctly it was Mugabi that scorned a jab as a weak punch and a waste of time, and it was Tiger who somebody said of him, that he'd lose to a trombone player (jabber). That probably sums it up.

 

What? Tiger's chances are lower in slugfest? Man, did you watch Tiger's fights?

Maybe I'm missing something here but I don't see Dick Tiger having too many problems with Mugabi.
Who did Mugabi beat to suggest that he could do anything with Dick Tiger?
His reputation seems to be mainly based on a gallant losing effort against a past prime Hagler.
Tiger beat plenty of punchers his chin was solid, not everyone is Bob Foster.
A different level of fighter, he takes a pretty wide UD or stops Mugabi late.

Mugabi is seeing a tad too much respect in this thread so far, underserved in my eyes as Tiger was a very good pedigree fighter I see this playing out akin to his fight with the Hurricane.

D. Tiger in his middleweight prime was a tough, tough, dude. I love Beast, but I don't think he could go 15 with D. Tiger. (I love the D. Tiger thing, can't believe we still can't say his name)
