If Tiger can make a feared puncher (who was far sounder technically) like Carter look horribly outclassed and gunshy, he can certainly do it to Mugabi.

The template foir this fight is the pressure James Green put on Mugabi and a guy like THAT almost pulled it off. No way Mugabi beats Tiger. Two different levels.

And they were both about 5'8"...…..somebody strangely posted that Mugabi was taller, no idea where that comes from.

I've watched all of Tiger's fights that are available. Few times did he beat up a puncher of Mugabi's power. Carter and Hank would be the only two off the top of my head.

I considered Fernandez as a big puncher, but I do not consider him an EXPLOSIVE puncher to the degree of Carter and Hank. Fullmer had moderate power as well.

I beg to differ. He defeated Torres, he didn't beat him, if you know what I mean.

I have a neutral question. I love Tiger, but I am wondering: "If Mugabi can go life and death, and push a very close fight for 11 rounds, with MARVIN HAGLER, why is he such a definite loser against Dick Tiger?

The Hagler fight wasn't particularly close. Mugabi won the first and maybe the second, and aside from a few violent outbursts it was pretty much all Hagler the rest of the way. A Hagler that was at the very end of his career and quite worn.

Personally i think if someone thinks it one-sided or not is a matter of opinion, but your bringing up Hagler's age has had an affect on my opinion. Actually somebody mentioned Green who came close to beating Mugabi. I was thinking if a little beast like Green could give Mugabi such a tough time then Tiger is a likely victor. I'll adjust my prediction to a comfortable 70/ 30 for Tiger.

Why do people keep comparing Mugabi to other great MW’s? He gets a lot of mileage out of looking good in a loss to Hagler. My guess is Tiger stops the overrated Mugabi around 8-12

Tiger wins. Yeah, Mugabi had great power, but he's not Foster or even close. And they're roughly the same size. As always, true heights are a little sketchy but I doubt Mugabi is more than an inch taller at the very most, so no size advantage either really.

Tiger beat four fighters with strong punch (all of them were better accomplished than Mugabi, right?) And Tiger himself has achieved far more than Mugabi. Everyone, who was trading shots with Tiger, have failed. SO why do you think John Mugabi would be competitive?
