You know the score. You're chatting about boxing to somebody who acts like they know a lot about it but in reality they know nothing. These individuals tend to be the ones who come out with the most stupid questions and statements. Here are some that I've been subjected to over the years.

1/ Chris Eubank ducked Naseem Hamed.
2/ If Mike Tyson was the champion in his first fight with Frank Bruno and Tyson won, then why was Bruno the champion in their second fight?
3/ Frank Bruno ducked Henry Cooper.
4/ Why did n't Rocky Marciano and Joe Frazier fight?
5/ Why did Angelo Dundee not fight Floyd Patterson.

Pretty dumb,eh? Have any of you got any just as "Good"?

On his podcast, Joe Rogan keeps referring to May as the greatest boxer ever. It makes me want to break something.

I've heard a few infuriating ones over the years but none as bad as this one dude. I was invited to a friend's house for a PPV boxing party he was throwing. Now my buddy and I were probably the only die-hards in the bunch. The others were peripheral fans and some like this one dude in particular who knew Jack. So I'm watching a preliminary while others were at the buffet line and I'm watching this kid with his eye swelling up when the dude in question comes up to me and actually says, "His corner is going to have to cut him!" I just looked at this guy who obviously watched Rocky one time too many and retreated to the buffet. I was mumbling under my breath, "Cut me, Mick, cut me!"

Love Joe but he is completely unreliable when discussing boxing. Thought Ronda Rousey was a good boxer, thinks Marciano and Louis were starving as if it was the great depression or something, and also thinks AJ wrecks every heavyweight before him.

But for videos about grizzlies and chimps he's my guy tho

Yeah. I think he means the best ever though.

I've seen Roy Jones Jr saying that fighters today are better so the best of today is the best of all time too btw.

I think this is what most people believe though, I think our point of view is the controversial one (for most people).

They see Lewis Hamilton as the best ever, they see Djokovic as the best player of all time, they see Tiger Woods as the goat, Messi and so on and so forth, and then I came and tell them "you know, the goat boxer is Harry Greb, he fought in the 20s"...
Basically everybody look at me as if I am talking ****.

So, just saying that it is more us here history guys that believe Joe Rogan is talking bs. Most people don't even take us seriously if we say that guys today are not better than boxers from 100 years ago.

But I don't have to go 80 years back to find guys who would destroy May.... namely Chavez, Leonard, Duran... I don't need to hear the opinions of folks who know nothing about Langford, Greb or Robinson.

1989…Hearns had just outclassed SRL though the official result was a draw. I was watching with a university pal of mine.

My pal: “Tommy Hearns would destroy Mike Tyson.”
Me: “WTF! Destroy him at what??”
Pal: “Boxing of course! Hearns is taller, more skilled and hits like a mule.”
Me: “Are you for real?? They fight at different weights ffs! Tyson’s a HW, Hearns is fighting at SMW. Tyson would take his head off.”
Pal: “Oh, but Hearns is tall man, I thought he was a HW.”
Me: “You kidding me right. So you think Sugar Ray is a HW?? Were you actually watching the fight? Did you miss the announcements about what weight they were fighting at??”
Pal: “Er yea but, Ok, ok forget what I said. I got brain freeze or something haha.”
    Me: “Lordy Lord!”

EDIT: This may not be word for word…it was a long time ago…but it’s as close as I recall.

Yeah, but you see, outside of Chavez all the guys you mentioned fought at its best when I, for example, wasn't even born yet.
Duran won his first belt 50 years ago, that is a long time, bro!
Try to tell people that Roy was better than Floyd, it will go fine, people will understand and live it alone.

I think that plays a factor, most of what we discuss here is from such a loooooong time ago.

I'm just saying that, you know, what Joe Rogan says is what most people think, and we, crazy historians, are in our own world here.

I guess we know better, but we make no noise. You see, to me, Djokovic is the best player of all time by far.... but I know little about Tennis history, I just googled and some "tennis historians" believe that a guy called Don Budge was the goat, never heard of him, maybe they are right but hey I am a fan of Tennis and Djokovic is the best for me, I would say so if I had my podcast and was discussing tennis.

I get it and you're correct. But Rogan is older than me, and is supposedly some expert on combat sports (and he is for MMA) and should know better. But the casuals out there, yeah, they will just stick to the latest flavor.

Another one has just come back to me -

My mate "Lennox Lewis would n't dare to give Mike Tyson a rematch"

Me "Don't be daft. Lennox easily beat Tyson so how on Earth do you think Tyson will improve for a second fight?"

My mate "Oh......Tyson was just messing about this time. Doing this....doing that. Next time he'll be serious"

The same Rogan who went on a verbally abusive tirade at a primatologist who corrected him on his believing misleading and sensationalised claims about the so-called Bondo/Bili Apes? He's a twat -and you should look elsewhere for accurate information on anything.
