How much of a recognisable name is Molina?

 

For the purpose of fighting in the UK on local TV. About the same as Ortiz: Unrecognizable.

The thing IMO is: If they already consider Molina (who's a nobody), why don't they take Price? At least that will generate more local UK interest I assume. Molina has a 1% chance. Price I give a 2.5% chance at least.

 

The casuals don't know Ortiz yet , to put them together now is killing the potential of having another fight on the magnitude of Froch -Groves II . Give Kong two impressive KO outings on Sky and the Joshua fight will be a pub filler. I like big events and i don't mind giving Hearn time to build it into one.

molina IMO is a very average fighter who would pose joshua little problems.

ortiz v joshua would be a very good fight for hardcore fans / but its simply not going to happen for reasons hardcore fans understand, even if we do not agree with.

They're totally different scenarios.

Joshua called Wlad out, Ortiz hasn't called out Joshua. Wlad is a certified superfight, Ortiz is virtually unknown to the casual fan.

By accusing Joshua of avoiding Ortiz, you're assuming Ortiz wants Joshua straight away, and with 3 weeks preparation after he fights Malik Scott. I'd imagine that he wants to let the fight build a little himself and collect a few easy paychecks en route. Pairing them now doesn't make sense for anyone concerned.

Would you rather watch Joshua v Ortiz or Joshua v Molina?

 

Molina is defo a lesser fighter than Bryant Jennings but better than Price. Overall, another cherry pick. I know Hearn wanted Wlad but his boy should really be fighting Pulev or Parker.

 

The situation doesn't relate to Wlad in any way.

 

I'd love to see Joshua vs Ortiz, for me its one of the best fights in all of boxing right now. At the same time I completely understand why its not happening on December 10th. I think its pretty unreasonable to expect Ortiz to fight Joshua 3 weeks after Scott, and without so much as an introduction to the British fans. Hopefully Hearn putting him in with some soft touch TBA on the undercard is him starting to build interest in the fight down the line.

 

But for you as a boxing fan, you want the fight next.

Literally anyone (even Glass Jawed David Price) would be a better opponent than Molina.
