Not everyones destined to challenge the Klischko bro's - if he loves what he's doing who cares. He should be applauded for taking a meaningful (comparitively) as a comeback fight. I've not seen the fight yet but bear in mind that this is the type of guy who would be 50-0 (50ko's) on the unlicenced circuit but has chosen to legitimately challenge himself. Seems a nice bloke too
That's the problem, I felt sorry for him a bit. Didn't look like he wanted to be there at all, like he was being forced to fight.
If he had been an eastern European 'opponent' coming over here for a pay day he would have been slaughtered on these boards for his total lack of effort, and rightly so
I was amazed at the Skelton-Dallas fight, I really thought that Skelton was totally shot and that Dallas would keep him off for the eight rounds and pick up a points win on workrate. As it was, Dallas looked half asleep throughout, and through much of the buildup, as if he thought it was all just a practice run ahead of the real fight. He often seems equally distracted when interviewed, as if it all isn't real. Maloney has gone very quiet about him recently, too, think he knew before this fight that he was not what he had previously hoped. I obviously think he should continue if he enjoys it, but he needs to wake up a little if for no other reason than he needs to defend himself in there. He took loads of shots that he didn't need to just because he did not seem interested enough to defend himself properly. I think anyone live still has the measure of Skelton, Saturday night flattered him enormously, but Dallas should forget titles and fight at a regional level if he wants to. Prizefighter is a good idea, but he'll just pick up another defeat. I don't need to see who else is in the lineup to be confident that he would not win it, he's just missing something too important, he's away with the fairies when he needs to be concentrating. No room for that in title level sport. He fights like it's a hobby rather than a career, which is fine but he needs to watch getting in with anyone too good or he'll get hurt. Not fussed about seeing him on tv again, personally.
I just think he had confidence knocked out of him, i think round 1 he had a decent end to it he hit Skelton 3-4 times with right hands but maybe he didn't like that Skelton took them with ease. Then proceeded to beat him like a Government Mule.
Is this the same Gary Cornish who looked very average against a fat looking cruiser at the show in Liverpool, don't think he would ko or stop him cleanly!! A fight with Dallas would be a good measure to see if he really is one for the future or just another kid getting easy fights and being built up for a fall when he goes up a level, just like what has happened to Dallas.
Dallas seems like a top lad, but he has no future in boxing. I hope for his and his family's sake, he retires.
This. Am actually gonna go find Rockin' Robin Deakin.......a lot of people says he should retire etc and yeah i can see why BUT i seen him when down London and when he entered the ring.....he wasnt entering like a journeyman. He was entering like it was destiny......soaking it up......seeing that WBA belt on the line........standing on the outside of the ring apron and giving it cold to the crowd.....then cooly slipping through the ropes. I was like woahhhhhh this kids just ZONED !!! Ledge !
It'd be better for Deakin's health if he stopped fighting like that, he does take a bit of a pasting. Much respect to the man though.
Yeah, Deakin is one who ought to be looked at. Every time I've seen him (about six times - live or on TV) he's taken a beating. He's just not very good and can't really defend himself, even against average young kids. Not really a good advert for boxing IMO.
