He is showing a high level skillset at British level and I think he will become a world champ. This content is protected
He's looked good so far. It'll be interesting to see how his style does against better opposition. I sometimes think he doesn't throw enough punches which will make him lose rounds in more competitive fights, but maybe that's due to the poor standard of opposition he has faced. He was supposed to fight Akeem Ennis Brown, but Brown pulled out with an injury. Smith needs to move past British level now and not hang around.
He’s a good lad Dalton and his dad is one of the best trainers in the UK at the minute. His dad wants him on Sky permanently to increase his exposure and there’s a gap for a new headliner in Sheffield since Brook has retired.
Dalton has good timing, speed and power. He draws you down to his tempo and eventually nails you. He has good counterpunching skills and is also happy to lead off if u start getting fidgety and also have poor boxing fundamentals. I expect him to win his next fight against Benjamin, altho at first I thought it would be a 50-50 I'm now confident in Dalton the more I thought about it. I'm surprised Hearn let him fight on Sky in what most people see as a 50/50, I was expecting Dalton to drop the belt and move onto the proverbial 'higher level' Maybe Grant has thought he wants Dalton on Sky and with his contract coming towards the end (afaik) this could act as a great promotion and introduction to fighting on that channel. Who knows?
The last bit is exactly what’s happened. Grant and Ben Shalom discussed Dalton moving to Sky during the recent trip to Albania for Florian Marku’s last fight.
I'm not surprised tbh. UK DAZN has turned into the new BN. Eddie now has to deal with been the small fry compared to sky boxing. Wonder if he will deliver as good as Frank did and be able to stay in the game like Frank did now he's not the biggest dog in the pit. Would be a blow for for Hearn if Dalton left. All this is entertaining if I do say so lol
