How has Matchroom lost this purse bid to Fresh Promotions? This is on Hearn just as much as it is on DAZN. Shame really, I was looking forward to watching this, but there's just no way this should be 40 quid—another absolute farce for a sport that keeps shooting itself in the foot and alienating their audience.

 

Sometimes you wonder in boxing how much of it is money laundering; for £40 the (genuine) PPV buys will be in single figures.

 

Absolutely not justifying it at all, but I wonder if the promoters have just converted the US price (presumably $60) in to GBP.

I didn’t buy it, but the Badou Jack v Mikaelian PPV on that site the other week seemed to have a ‘UK-adjusted price’ of £15 I think. And the PBC PPVs on Amazon are £15 rather than whatever $80 would be.

It’s crap either way, but you’ve got to adjust pricing to reflect different markets. Bit like how Disney+ and Netflix are the equivalent of a couple of quid a month out in India and Pakistan etc. You presume they’re not bothered about buys over here, but even at £15, he’s got a decent enough fanbase that you’d sell a few at that price.

I have ordered the PPV and will watch it Sunday morning

Hope I am wrong but unfortunately I don't give Dalton Smith many chances in this fight.

 

Really hope Dalton actually gets paid for this. Fresh reportedly bid $1.9m for the fight, ticket sales look pretty much non-existent, and the PPV price is higher than the cheapest seats. Hard to see how that model adds up long term – you can easily imagine the promotional firm folding after this one.

Either way, no chance Mathias is walking away with $1.3m from this. Not with ticket sales where they are and the numbers not stacking up.

 

Why ? He's allegedly being paid more for this now than MR are contractually obliged to if they had won the purse bid.

 

Literally 40 people will watch in the UK, so his star appeal wont go up at all

Some outfit very liable not to pay.

Id say MR have let Dalton down hugely.
