He deserved to lose. I as a cuban, and a huge fan, feel like he lost. He didnt push it. WTF was he waiting for???
I had him winning by one point (5 rounds to Lara, 4 to Molina, 1 even) but yeah, pretty shite performance.
I think he took it too lightly in the beginning. You could see in his demeanor that he was calm, but too calm and assumed that he could eventaully get that one punch KO, but it never came
Man, I came in late and just caught the last three rounds! Look like both had a tough night. Lara landed a big shot in the 9th, I think. But he was getting nailed with some sneaky shots that were pushing him back at times. I was just surprised that they were in the 7th round when I turned on the TV. I thought Lara would of had this kid out by the 4th. I gotta check this fight out all the way through!
I think he took some Valium or something, he was like walking in the park. He looked like a ****ing gentleman at tea time, slowly sipping. ****.
I don't know. He has had a tendency to be passive in the pros, I don't know if it's Shields or not, but I don't remember Lara being so passive back in the amateurs.
Man, Lara definitely lucked up to get those two judges. His defense was superb, but he didn't do a damn thing offensively. Molina was outworking him in most rounds, and although Lara's defense nullified much of it, Molina made Lara look kind of one dimensional. While Lara's defense is good, his offense is kind of robotic. He doesn't utilize his jab enough, and when he does, he throws it in a weird type of way that doesn't look to be that effective. He telegraphs that left cross, and often throws it in instances when hooks would be better punches to throw than crosses. Lastly, Lara, telegraphs that left uppercut also. He is going to get countered something terrible if they put him in with a decent boxer anytime soon. I am not sure that Shields is the proper trainer for him. Lara has a bit of athleticism and hand speed, but he also doesn't throw combinations. He doesn't have the kind of one punch concussive power to be a one punch at a time type of guy. I was high on Lara, but he really stunk it up tonight. Hopefully he just had an off night. He needs to get Sergio Martinez's name out of his mouth though. He would get easily outpointed by Martinez, Dzinziruk, Alvarez, Williams etc. He isn't active enough offensively.
He needs to switch trainers. There is no reason he should be throwing left crosses in instances where hooks would be better suited.
