I have heard the exact same thing from everyone i have asked within the amateur game.

 

all he has to do is apologise.

so suck it up, say the words, and go get a medal.

he can rag on the coach AFTER he turns pro. but right now, take it. suck it up and apologise. its not worth losing an olympic dream over.

 

he's a new coach. only been in the job i'd say less than 2 years - its not bodo anymore

Bodo was a usless fckwit who tried to change boxers fight styles, he told them it was his way or the highway, he is also rude, never returns any of his calls and thinks his sht dont stink.

If you qualify for the olympics, which rule book states that u must suck the nutsack of every offical and person in the boxing team? Unless he has hit someone outside the ring, he is well within his right to tell them to go fck themselfs. This isnt nazi germany and the kid dont have to put up wth karnts that are trying to force their opinion and style down a young kids throat.

 

TC - you're out of line here mate. you're not thinking that bodo is still the coach are you? coz he is long gone. and i know you know and respect Kel Bryant and he is one of the assitants and has a very close working relationship with hooper.
Hooper has been ****ing up for years - years! i watched him in action when they held the last week of the camp for last years worlds out of collingwood and the guy has a screw loose.
remember hooper was kicked out of the village at the comm games. he was suspended from the ais at least once, and i witnessed him act out over nothing
if he has been kicked out of this team its been as a result of constant and long term poor behaviour; not to mention what he may have done to break the camels back.
and whether he's made the olympic team (the operative word is team) or not he is not there to represent himself - he's there for his country
as for an overhaul of the amateur boxing again your many years out of circulation mean you're not up to speed here either mate because the whole thing has changed - this started happening around the time of the AIS dropping boxing.
these days each state runs its own show in tandem with the other states and overseen by the national body.
the problem with our boxers in the past was lack of quality training, sparing and competiton. now instead of a finite number of boxers at the ais we have each state with its own centre of excellence - admittedly most are still under construction or at planning level. in addition to both the national A &B teams travelling to cuba and europe for training camps every year (where they train, spar and enter comps) we have a national program of competetive sparing. basically if adelaide has a good middleweight they'll fly in middleweights from the other states to spar with them for a week or - the visiting boxer(s) will be put up and given (some what modest) compensation. the sparing is set up like a fight with a ref an all - i've posted one of these spars on youtube between then welterweight rep (mark?) basile and local vic middleweight michael humphrys
oz boxing is well and truly on the way - and making a stand against hoopers poor behavior is a right and brave move. that said both parties will buckle and hooper will be back - lets face it the officials want a medal as much as he does

 

If bodo was coach he would be off the team not just sent home.. Olympics is the biggest event in the world . If u can't follow simple rules and respect go home and drink **** as much as u want ....

 

Hooper is a serial offender. Boxing Australia have defended him on too many occasions re Hoopers lack of respect and discipline in Australia and overseas. Boxing Australia have spent a LOT of time and taxpayers money on assisting Hooper with his attitude and training and it is not being unreasonable to expect Hooper to act in a reasonable manner.

 

I know Bodo is gone m8. And Kel Bryant is an exellent coach but the rest of them are fckwits.

When did they axe boxing at the AIS? ive been out of the amateur game since 2004 and havent keept upto date on what the boys club ***s are doing. You must also remember ive witnessed and experianced the corruption of these officals , not just AIS but also the VIC ones.

We dont have sht boxers in this country , Thailand won gold medal at lightweight yet we cant? Its the politics and system and its still not working today as i see it. As for AIS, the AIS called me up for the scholarship i applied for in order to get into the London Olympics so im at a bit of a loss about that, whats happen to all the guys who got the scholarships for that? turffed to their state which is in most cases in shambles or ?

VIC makes up their own rules, they allow fighters with fractured ribs to contuine on in the team even if they cant do any sparring. That to me is corruption, they have their favs picked and so do the judges, its one of the most corrupt sports in our country and it needs to stop.

Its no longer a sport i would encourage any kid to be involved in, id much prefer to see kids play football or some other sport that wont show them the seedy corrupt side of sport.

 

they left the ais early last year i think. i don't think it was the year before. i dont know the reasoning but i also don't think the oz boxing was too upset about it. i would think that the scholarships transfered to oz boxing as they have i think 10 or maybe its 20 on some sort of contract

as for the quality and sucwess of the fighters themselves i guess what i'm saying is this new system is in its first stages and already we performed better at the worlds than we had in years it was only 2009 when hooper as 17yr old was the only boxer to make it out of the first round. look how well the tassie lukes are doing and victoria under kel is just getting better and better

 

you mean parents and adults that are prepared to give their time freely to help other peoples kids, and provide a sporting opportunity for some whose parents cant afford, or dont have the transport to take them to team sport venues?

u read wrong sally and forget i was a volunteer for over 2 yrs at PCYC. Boys club is the fckwit officals, its a term given because unless u sucking their nuts ur not in their club.

raxman, when we win gold ill become a beliver, but given i know the system is corrupt i find it hard to belive that its all turned to saint hood because these guys are still involved with the system. And i am not saying Kel Bryant is corrupt, i would say the opposite, its the officals and the old karnts who are set in their ways that are corrupt.

some of them cant even score a fight correctly so we dont even know if we have the best AUS has representing this country, not to mention the division between ABA and League.
