When you rank the best Mexican fighters of all-time, Oscar Delahoya never even gets a mention and that's because he was born and raised in the United States.
There is truth to what Erik Morales alluded to, its really about being raised in Mexico that makes the difference.
Hunger!!! In the US even if you're poor most don't suffer from hunger.
In Mexico, if you don't work you don't eat, and that makes a huge difference in the mentality of the Mexican fighter born and raised.

You know whats funny about that is that many great Mexican boxers were not even poor growing up. Barrera, Marquez, Olivares, Ricardo Lopez all grew up in middle class families.

I am black American. If my mom and sad moved to China and had me. Do you think you think they could say I am Chinese? Being born in American doesn't make you American. It means your parents or grandparents ran here and had a child. Mikey is Mexican. De La Hoya is Mexican.
