Mosley has no defense, especially for right hands. I guess that and his age is why Arum picked him for Cotto.
Well what people don't seem to understand is that Mosley's defense was his offense. His speed, reflexes offset his lack in pure defensive ability. Hence he was explosive with his handspeed and combinations in close and his reflexes to move out of the way before the last punch hit him. He didn't need defense because of his natural talent which made him a offensive giant. Look at him against a prime Delahoya in the first fight. You'll see what I mean. However this weakness would get explioted by naturally bigger taller opponents. Cotto was effective with his good jab even though he is shorter because Shane is older, but still good and not shot.
to be honest, that is what i always thought of mosley: Great natural talent, but he never learned to employ the basics. thats his fathers "power boxing" to blame for that. never employ conventional stuff, always go full throttle. dip dive, slip and slide. had he learned to box in a more orthodox/conventional manner, he would have been far less exciting maybe. but much harder to beat. and a greater fighter imo.
