Yeah. Top 5 UK prospect for sure. He has a lot of bad habits though. Reminds me a bit of a more talented version of Froch, but he'll need a chin like Froch's to have success long-term, with that style.
He is very intelligent, accurate and sets himself up very well. All this in his 9th fight. Top class.
bit of an early stoppage. but yea great foot/handspeed, decent power, ring intelligence. I'm impressed. Froch would be ****ed against Groves. A fast boxer/puncher would handle Groves(not Froch)
George looked great! I am a big fan of his (I hope he goes all the way) and he does possess all the attributes that you mention, and he is improving with every fight but he is no Andre Dirrell and (Imo) he is a fair way (At present) from being in Froch's class. He's still a great prospect and hopefully he will fulfil his obvious potential.
Looked **** hot, good prospect. Hopefully he meets Degale down the line in a big fight and knocks him the **** out!
I'd favor DeGale to beat him rather easily at this point. I know all the Brits hate DeGale, but he's a much more complete fighter than Groves, and he doesn't have the same massive defensive holes than Groves has.
He needs a lot of work on the defense. A top tier fighter would destroy him at this point. At 22, he's got plenty of time to improve and I look forward to watching him in the future.
Aye, five years ago mate! Agreed! I to look forward to watching him progress (As he has done with every fight) but as you rightly say, at this point he would be destroyed by a top-tier fighter and it would be absurd to even consider him in such a match-up! Good luck to him though!!
It would certainly make for a most interesting match-up! They did meet in the amateurs (Admittedly back in 2006) and Groves won that match-up. And there is a fair bit of "Needle" between them!! Like you, I have been impressed with the improvement that De Gale has shown, but right now I personally would favour Groves. But only by the slightest of margins and in twelve months time I may favour De gale!! Personally, I doubt that we will see this fight for quite some time, which is a shame (But probably good business sense).
I swear this guy will win a World title by his 20th fight. This guy is going to take risks, his jab is solid and that right hand is a possible Hayemaker, plus he can work the body. I just hope DeGale backs up all his talk and take the plunge and fight Groves, who btw, will stop "Chunky"
George is a great prospect, but my only concern is that in two years time (By his 20th fight) we will probably still have the mega-talented super-middleweights like Ward, Dirrell, and Bute (To name but a few) kicking about and on the right side of their primes! I have never known the S/M division to be so stacked with talent and the guys I have mentioned above all have the potential to be superstars, regardless of The out-come of the Super Six. To be honest mate, I believe that De Gale would happily fight Groves. But I would imagine that Frank Warren will ensure that this is a fight that is not made for quite some time to come (Which is a ****ing shame, but hey that boxing politics and Warren has invested too much money in De Gale to jeopardise his investment just yet).
