Henry was basically a heavyweight of his time. It was the days when a defeat and a knockout loss weren’t the end of the world. They simply dusted themselves down and moved on. Every time he moved up a notch though he generally was knocked out. Johansson, Patterson, Foley (2nd fight) and Bygraves (who wasn’t the level of the others). He had a good win against Folley first time round although I suspect it was a bit dubious. He had good wins against European level guys in Mildenberger, London, Richardson, Erskine and Urtain and some American fringe contenders, and in all fairness his two performances against Ali were excellent. He was ranked as a top ten contender for a helluva long time in itself an achievement. He had longevity an affable personality and of course that left hook against Ali put it all together and the British public adored him.
The rematch with Muhammad Ali was on May 21 1966, he gave Cooper 14 stitches, but Ali as I said in my post, was very wary of that left hook, and with good reason.
