Damn, just re-watched Hasegawa-Montiel...

Hozumi controlled and dominated the fight up until the fateful last seconds of the fourth round. What a brutal knockout. Hasegawa wasn't completely destroyed afterwards, so I think if he hadn't gotten tangled in the ropes, he could have come back to win a UD.

I think a lot of people felt this was going to be a really hard fight for Montiel. Obviously, Hozumi is quite skilled, however there was also the problem that Montiel had struggled with southpaws. It was pretty alarming when he caught him with that brutal hook.

Yeah this was a good little figth. Hasegawa might have dominated most of the fight but he clearly didn't dominate it enough. Montiel later said that he was just going in there to look for that shot and that the slow start was because he was bidding his time to land the killer blow. My feeling watching this fight is that it was similar to the Calderon-Seguear fight were Calderon looked very good but was in danger the entire time. (Obviously it was not as close a fight until the end though).

I wish Hasegawa had taken a knee, it would be interesting to see what would have happened the next round.

It looked to me like he was too much in la-la land to take a knee.
