You've got to be kidding. Winky clearly won that fight. Vargas' best fights were Tito and Oscar and best wins were Quartey and Raul Marquez.

All the tough fights (Wright, Quartey, Trinidad, DLH) and Vargas's injuries ruined Vargas, but Trinidad's fight more so than the other fights. The Wright, Quartey, and Trinidad fights were such grueling fights, in a period of about one year.

Oscar was more hurt in round 6 against Quartey. Ike dropped DLH and DLH was holding on after the follow-up.

Vargas stunned DLH, but that's about it. Maybe he hurt DLH to the body, but not any more than Mosley did in the last round of the first fight.

    Yes he was! :deal

. . . unfortunate that he lost focused very early in his career.

And Vargas has a win over Winky Wright in his prime, though I thought Winky won, the fight was close, Imagine had Tito fought wright back then who knows what would the out come have been.

His win against Quartey was the best one. It was outstanding.

it was, but I dont rate it very high, Ike had a long lay off and this was his first fight back and at a bigger weight class I think had Ike took an easy fight first it could have been a different story.

I don't doubt that but in terms of pure performance he did everything almost perfectly.

Winky was in his prime or close to it. No one knew that cause no one of note would fight him. That looked like the same Winky who ***** slapped Mosley.

Yep. Winky was 29 and absolutely primed out physically and technically. Vargas won a close but fair decision that now looks a lot better than it did at the time.

Your right he did everything perfect in that fight, but he was hurt pretty good by Quartey, and had Ike not had taken this as his first fight back after that lay off I think Ike would have probably stopped Nando first.

Ike has very underrated power IMO

Vargas used to tire. I think he was a guy that used to flurry a lot, because he had questionable stamina. If you watch the Winky fight he fight in flurrys a lot, and he does the same in the Quartey fight. He gets tired in almost all of those fights to.

I think that is why he got knocked out a few times. His stamina used to fade late in fights. He did have a lot of talent though i agree.
