Hes got a lot of heart, always respected duddy even if hes not world class. He always gives a good show and is tough as nails.
Even when an Irish boxer is utter shite the Irish still try and gain themselves some kudos off his back...
Had it a draw...Classic Smichet fight...I've seen most of his fights and I can't count the number of times he got caught in a brawl like this...The guy was a ****in WARRIOR! One of my favorite hard working-low skills fighter....
I read somewhere that he's looking for a comeback :verysad I thought he was gone for good after being destry by Lemieux but....
I heard that too...With SP promotiona a new promoter in MTL...They are also trying to sign Joachim Alcine and they want to bring Tommy Morisson in Canada to fight against Erik Barrak -dead
wow what a pathetic statement. I suppose we like to play the whole Leprachaun thing too. In fact I can just see the whole of the Irish dispora coming in to work the next day after an "utter shite" and bragging to all their friends and asking their boss for a pay rise. Grow up.
When it comes to It comes to irish boxers you lose all sense of persepctive and make the Welshies look rational in their appraisals of Joe Calzaghe.
Bit of a generalisation there. I've never been biased towards Irish fighters before and many people havent. But, whatever, I couldnt care really.:conf
This fight had serious repurcussions. Duddy was headed for a Pavlik fight at MSG and a $1.4 million dollar pay day. Arum was at ring side. When he saw Duddy get smacked around and cut up by Smichet, he freaked out. There was video floating around at one time, and it showed Arum hollering, "The fight's off! No ****ing way!" Anyway, Duddy changed trainers and Burns tried to turn him into a slick boxer. They moved down to 154 and lost to Billy Lyell. Just a bad situation all the way around.
He's limited, but, what a fighter. His fight with junior was close. He needs a Freddie roach type of trainer to utilize his offense more.
