****, this is a terrible undercard, at least they could've put 1 marquee fighter before the main event, that would've probably motivated me to buy the ppv, someone like rafael marquez, vernon, vazquez, but noooo, arum went ahead and put 6 "unknown' fighters" who nobody cares about. thats terrible, great, great main event but,not attractive enough for mainstream buyers.
I wouldnt call it terrible. You may be surprised with the action in the undercards. Who knows? you may get to know 1 or 2 of them....
Very true, every fighter needs/deserves exposure at some point, I have very often said the same thing before about an undercard, and eaten my words later after seeing a good fight :good
You can check it out at Boxrec.com if you look by the date. I really want to see that kid Jesus Rojas. He algo trains at the Bairoa gym in Caguas. I heard he is doing pretty dood
Cotto is probably gonna earn 3.5 to 4.5 millions $, Margarito at least 2.5 (although I think they're both gonna earn much more), it has been reported site fees are not that much for this bout, the only real income would be PPV and Arum would be lucky to do more than 400.000 buys after the shitty work he's done for this card. Hard-core fans are about 200.000, I don't think more than other 200.000 occasional fans will be buying it, Cotto isn't Floyd (yet) and Margarito is not De La Hoya. So, not much money left for a quality undercard.
Giovanni Segora(19-1 15KOs) vs. Cesar Cancila(26-1 21KOs) are fighting for the WBA Light Flyweight Title(108 lbs) Theres been some serious **** talking for this fight so I'm pretty interested:yep
Today's undercard presser for the supporting bouts of Saturday's Miguel Cotto-Antonio Margarito, held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, was business-as-usual until, near completion, Giovani Segura and Cesar Cancila heated up the platform. Cancila, 26-1, 21 KOs, of Columbia, challenged Segura, 19-01, 15 KOs, of Bell Gardens, Calif., to take a good look at the next light flyweight champion, when speaking at the podium. When it was Segura's turn, the No. 1 Contender for the WBA belt told his challenger that if he was going to make bold statements, "Look me in the eyes, and say it with guts." Cancila stood up and re-issued his challenge. In Saturday night's co-main, Segura and Cancila will fight for the WBA light flyweight title Saturday night. In two more televised bouts: Undefeated Denverite Mike Alvarado (21-0, 14 KOs) takes on former lightweight champ Cesar Bazan (48-10-1, 31 KOs) in a ten-rounder at 140; and Filipino sensation Bernabe Concepcion (25-1-1, 14 KOs) takes on California's Adam Carrera (19-3, 8 KOs) in a ten-rounder at super bantam. A full report of today's conference will be posted later today. Thursday, July 24 2008
No doubt:good And these little guys are pretty pissed at one another:happy The super bantam fight should be interesting as well
Undercards are the only way people get to know new faces. I have no problem with unknowns fighting on undercards. None at all.
when ur pissed at ur fighter u dont fight good u look to knock them out insted of useing ur boxing skills to out point them and beat them
