BTW, I believe ESPN will be playing the untelevised part of the card on their website. Kid Diamond-Valle will probably be a better fight than the televised ones.
I seen both Bernebe Conception and Mike Alvarado fight on versus and they both seemed pretty good. I never seen Giovanni Segura or Cesar Conchila fight before but its a scheduled 12 rounder in a title eliminator. I'm not expecting much out of this card but it couldve been nice to have some more well known names on the undercard of this fight ... There are plenty of well known guys in the TopRank stable that couldve been featured on this card or Arum couldve set up some fights with some bigger names ... It might be good but then again it might not be.
Exactly. Who do these people want to see on undercards, washed-up retreads like Toney and Rahman?? atsch How the hell to they expect this frikkin' sport to RENEW itself! :nut
Wow, I just took a look at the undercard for the first time because I've been sold on this since the main event was announced. But this is a very weak undercard. The Segura-Concilla bout looks ok but the other two appear to be mismatches. Very weak undercard. I'm surprised there are so many on this thread who seem fine with such a poor undercard. The rationalae seems to be that any fight could be good, well of course, but I would rather take my chances with fights that appear to be good coming into the fight. How could you not want good fights on an undercard? And for the idea that this is the way to get younger fighters some exposure-thats what ESPS, Versus, Telefutura, and so on are for. A lot more people are exposed to those channels than will be to this ppv. This is a poor undercard period.
Same here. Chances are, they'll be motivated to put on good performances, too...and that means we could see some good action prior to the main event.
Or maybe we do know them and that is the reason for the complaints. Alvarado and Concepcion are good looking youngsters but Bazan is very long in the tooth Alvarado looks to win big in there. The only guy I don'tknow on the undercard is the guy Concepcion is facing but his record doesn't make it seem like he's ready for Concepcion. Truth is the undercard consists of 2 showcase fights and one decent looking title eliminator. Not exactly something worth getting excited about.
maybe you dont know them but most of them have been causing a major buzz in the fight game..... especially alvarado and segura on telefutura....
Exactly.....and GBP took that mold and copied it, as they too put on terrible undercards. I'm buying this card, because the main even alone interests me..... ......but on cards like Pac-Diaz where I'm well behind the fence on shelling 50 bucks on, a better undercard may have lured me to cross that fence. I think it was Ambition Def who mentioned earlier that showcasing up and coming fighters is what undercards are for. I dont agree. A PPV undercard should give you at least one more fight of real interest between known fighters of value. Shelling out 50 bucks for a PPV, I do miss the days back to the 80's and 90's, when it was Don King who was the main promoter, providing the PPV. I'll say this about Don King, he provided us with great undercards, Azumah Nelson, Finito Lopez, Felix Trinidad early welterweight reign, etc......I got to tell you, it was heaven being a boxing fan back in those days. .....you just dont get fighters of that quality fighting on PPV undercards anylonger.:?
