He's a 32 year old who just won a British title. He's not going anywhere but can be in good domestic level fights to fill cards
He’s a great fighter, entertaining style and would be a 50/50 fight against yarde imo has a good chance of fighting for the euro later this year
VERY good sighing. Watched Dan fight live quite a few times, he is one of those fighters that for reasons which are often unclear or hard to pin down just goes under the radar and often does not get the big break so I'm glad he now has a promoter with a TV deal as he has spent too long on the small hall circuit. He's very good. Big puncher, with good timing and good feet, has a decent jab and seems to be healthy and strong at the weight. I think he would cause all the top names domestically huge problems and I would not be overly surprised if he beat some of them. The real problem though is the LHW division in general. So many top fighters in the UK, so much promise of great fights but in the end we get nothing but disappointment. Buatsi, Johnson, Yarde, Richards, Azeez are all top fighters. None are big names. A few out of that list you could argue are not names at all! Yet due to promoter politics, bad decisions, and this obsession with undefeated fighters none of them have faced each other at all. That is a shame and needs to change...
Hope he gives ricky summers a shot. Nicked a razor decision on a split as the home fighter. Awful fight but could of easily been summers with his hand raised
Strange move given all the little guy heavy’s are with Matchroom and Warren. Who’s out there for him to fight given he’s 32 already and will need to step up quickly
Callum Johnson is 37 this August and has only stepped up once so Dan Azeez at 32 and with not many miles on the clock will be a good signing for Sky. Not strange at all, they are building a stable, and have signed a good fighter, a lot more to come, including at LHW too so it's not remotely strange, just another piece of the puzzle.
When you build a house, you start with the ground and then you lay stone upon stone. This is the process BOXXER / Sky Sports is currently undergoing.
This content is protected I hoped he would have got the Buatsi fight instead of Stepien in May. He isn’t getting any younger and has been on a great run. Would like him to get some higher profile fights.
I really like the way that Azeez is being handled by Shalaom. He’s becoming a fan favourite and the opponents have been good IMO. I think they will do Buatsi-Azeez after these fights.
