Dan Hardy vs Paulo Thiago - battle of the cut

I think they will keep Hardy no matter what the outcome is too crucial for the Brit cards imo. Thiago needs this bad a bad loss for him and he will be out.

 

hardy wont get cut. he is too well supported in the uk, and he talks a good fight which sells.

 

Looks a bad match-up for Dan.

Think Paulo would be able to absorb whatever Hardy threw at him in the stand-up, and when it gets to grappling and subs Paulo would have his number.

 

Tiago just signed a new 4 fight contract. He won't be sacked any time soon.

Jardine was entertaining but he didn't have a fan base. Always just the other guy in an entertaining fight. He was always just going to be a gate keeper for the UFC but when you lose that much to the contenders although good ones there's only so many losses he can take . Thought he should of won the fight against Prangley.

Hardy I would say is more liked than Bisping amongst the Brit MMA fans and not just the casual UFC fans. Usually in good fights and outside of Hathaway and maybe Pickett there isn't much main stream MMA fighters.

 

Meh. If Hardy can take GSP's sub attempts for the whole entire fight he can take whatever Thiago will give him for three rounds, IF Thiago can get him there enough to make it count.

What surprises me to no end is why the hell they're having Hardy fight a guy like Thiago and not someone like Alves or Rumble Johnson or Chris Lytle or someone who will stand and throw with him. That's what he's good at, that's what makes him exciting and that's where he'll make them money, win or lose. It's not like any of those guys are on the door of a title shot, so why not pick the ones that will give the best fights?

 

I'd be sad to see Thaigo gone, he's been the most entertaining guy at WW in recent years if you ask me.

If he were to lose though and Kos loses to GSP again I could see him getting one more chance with a rematch.

 

I like Thiago, he's a 170lber who doesnt rely on his wrestling. But if only he could deal with wrestlers a little better

 

Sadly Thaigo's style goes totally agenst what judges are looking for these days, personally I think that dispite Deigo clearly being in the asendancey in the 3rd round Thaigo actually did more to deserve the decision in the first two.

 

Only way Hardy would get cut, if he got ICED early in round one. They need him to sell tickets in England.

 

Yeah no doubt about that if he keeps losing he will get cut. I can see them giving Hardy every chance though to stay. He's been in some entertaining fights recently and showed a lot of heart while GSP was trying to rip his arm off. Even if he does get cut when is the next UFC in England? Could be cut and back before then. Hathaway and Pickett could be bigger names by then. Perason could also be added to the cards as well. I'm not saying Hardy is safe but with the lack of Brits in the UFC he will have a good chance of staying.

 

Ortiz can go 4 years without winning without getting cut. It happens to guys who aren't frequently in fights of the night and don't have the fanbase. Don't think Sanchez would have been cut if he lost to Paulo either
