i think his style did change

my guess is that after his last fight on espn, the one where teddy said he had no power and then jacobs immediately ko'ed the guy made him go into the walker fight on hbo with this mentality of i'm going to knock this mother****er out... and that's what he tried to do the first few rounds, eschewing his usual style... but when that didn't work and the fight began to bog down, it turned out to be a really lackluster performance on a big stage and when he got his next chance to box on tv on espn in front of teddy atlas, he was like i'm going to show everyone how skilled i am this evening

You don't have to take body shots when you are a coward and you pull your trunks and protector up to within inches of your chest.

The guy had never been stopped and Jacobs admits he's not a big puncher.

If he's so good why does he need to cheat before the fight starts by having his trunks and protector up so high? It is a disgrace. I'm not saying he's not talented. But when a fighter of today's era does that, I just roll my eyes at what little guts these guys have. Imagine truly macho fighters of the past doing that. It would be unheard of. If referees today truly enforced the rules, they would make these guys move those protectors down to no higher than the imaginary line from the hip bones through the navel. Otherwise, they are unfairly covering the target area. When a fighter does that, I can only assume that either he has no defense for body shots, or cannot take a body shot.

If you are going to be a fighter, be a fighter. Don't cheat and show the world you can't do it the right way.

You have to remember he's only been in the pro ranks for about 18 months. He's just moving very fast, you have to give him some time

who knows if he can take a bodyshot or not? we'll have to weight and see. but those trunks are illegal. they are only supposed to come to the belly button, he shouldn't have padding over his stomache and ribs. the ref should have lowered them in the locker room.

I thought Jacobs looked impressive last night.

It did seem to me that he was getting hit more often than he should have, but he seemed to take the shots very well and he always seemed relaxed.
