I'm not the biggest Rafael fan, his top ten lists and other ratings are usually pretty bad, and I don't agree with many of the stories he runs...Or, it could be he has the best job in the world and I'm just jealous, I dunno, lol...either way...

I've always thought that Floyd made a great "B-Side." Floyd is not as big of draw as he thinks he is. He fights in front of sellout crowds because he's fighting the likes of Ricky Hatton and Oscar De La Hoya. The truth is that Floyd's fight against JMM had only sold 3000 tickets before he pulled out with an "injury." I know this might create some backlash, but it's how I see it, as I think a few others agree with me.

I slightly agree with that, but in todays sport, no ones a strong A.

Lots of good B sides with Pac and Mayweather being the top 2.

I think that comment was a little harsh but true to an extent.
Mayweather obviously needs the likes of Hatton, DLH , Pacquiao to draw the huge numbers but he makes a great job of playing the 'heel' and getting the maximum possible out of those big fights.

Hatton-Mayweather didn't sell so well just because of Hatton, it needed Mayweather to do his thing. He's not the stand alone draw that DLH was or that Hatton is in the UK, but he does do reasonable numbers on his own so to speak and he does great numbers when matched with another big name guy.

I think think it's more regarding live gates myself, but I also feel Mayweather couldn't carry a ppv card with just his own name power. What I think we can agree on, possibly, based on some posters answers, is that he isn't as big of draw as he thinks he is. And I think that was Dan's point, and it's what I'm trying to say. Like I said not trying to argue, just an observation.

I knew someone would have to bring of the clueless slob's comment on this. So, Pacquiao is an A side then? He did less with the same 2 opponents, and soon to be 3 fighters Mayweather will have done better numbers with than Pacquiao did.

IMO, PAC did a bit less coz of the current global economic crisis... If on same economic atmosphere, I predict PAC will do more...

Floys and Haton do not atract **** was HBO 24/7 shows that draw that huge number of sales, with that exposure even the latin fury fights will get a lot of ppv sales, tru ppv sellers where Hoya, trinidad, Tyson ect, with no promotion at all they atract about 500,000ppv with whatever fighter he fights.

So how will that explanation work if Mayweather/JMM does better that Pac/JMM? It won't. Your prediction is theoretical, which is fine, but that cannot be used for realistic negotiations while many seem to think other-wise. If PBF/JMM were to tank badly, then Pac gets the upper-hand, but not at-the-moment.

Oh well, fight won't happen I suspect. Demands from Pacquiao like he's been making recently just won't let the fight happen. Mayweather will take the blame of course, because he is disliked so much more.

I don't think it will do better, but that's of course something we won't see until after the fight.

Look to the ones that keep saying that floyd isnt a draw you just cant explain the numbers. He does great numbers, number better then those that are "SUPPOSE" to be bigger draws. Bottom line is it was Floyd vs Oscar that got the biggest numbers, not Oscar vs Tito, or Vargas, or Mosley or Hopkins or Pac. You just cant explain that away with floyd isnt a big draw.

That doesnt erase the fact that Oscar was the STRONG A side, while Mayweather made a name for himself then and there are a STRONG B side.

The 24/7 series FIRST came out when that **** happened. Before the economic downfall and before Oscar embarassed himself with Forbes and Pac. He was still viewed as a huge live dog and one that can still throw a punch.

All those other guys those...Vargas was a decent A side. Mosley is a decent A side, although he's been playing B side lately. Hopkins is boring as **** he doesnt have a ****in' side. Tito is a good A side when he was still in his prime, but ultimately never fought a good B side to help his ass out.

But one thing that you can say about Mayweather is that he makes for a GREAT B side. But he will never be an A side in today's boxing world. But to be fair...there really ARENT any strong A sides in todays generation. All the Strong B's need to pair up to make good numbers. No way can you sell **** anymore with just a name.
