Remember the poster on here that would always ask "If Mike Tyson used his feet, would he be able to dance like Muhammad Ali" (or something like that). Well he would ask Dan Rafael the same question everytime he chat with the fans. Until one day that Rafael called him deranged, perverted and a freak.
Dan has never seen the inside of a Gym and never kept on going if he passed a MacDonalds. Men who have never boxed - should not write about the sport itself- it makes no sense whatsoever. At leat Steve Kim - trains at the WIld Card- it is invaluable experience to at least lace up the gloves and hit a heavy bag once in a while- train with ighters- see what makes them- and you tick as a fighter. Im not saying he step in the ring- but at least train with the boxers for some research and youre own credibility - and lifestyle!! its your job after all! its not like a film reviewer making films- or a lifestyle reporter needing to be an actor. its different- those are supericial and commonly understood disciplines. its just that boxing is a highly technical and soulful sport- how can one write about the sport if he has no firsthand knowledge of the technical aspects- no experience at testing his own soul from the game- going thru the pain of boxing training?!?!?!
i find Dan Rafael just to be a common reporter who got stuck on the boxing beat. just a reporter- who reports what people say- not a true journalist who writes real articles that advance our understanding or an analyst who can help us understand something that the fighters do. only thing that seperates him and guys like Elie Sechbach is an ESPN media pass. Doug Fishcer is the same- the pencil necked geek. The guy was basically Elie Seckbach for 110 years at Maxboxing - his persistence over talent. I cant stand his nerdy voice and completely biased agenda against Mayweather and for Valero. He ll give Floyd no credit ever- and suck off an unproven guy cos he knocks out some cab drivers- he even accepts being linked with Valero being his 'son'- how unpro is that!?!?! Its like - Marv Albert was a knicks commentator- but even he was unbias when they played the Bulls- and gave both teams props. know what i m saying?? bias writers only belong in regional or fighter specific markets and websites . The web has allowed too many unprofessionals to reach the top of the market. ridiculous.
i don't think he got stuck on the boxing beat. The guy has an obvious passion for the sport. He goes above and beyond in his coverage of the sport, i'm sure he could do less and get away with it and keep his bosses happy.
