So now Rafael reports Dawson is reconsidering and may fight him. what the ****

 

Not sure it's true but I've heard that when Mayweather Sr. trained Dawson that Dawson sparred with Dirrell and got his ass kicked.

Anyways, Dawson is really killing his career and it's not like hes showing desire to get in the ring. All the tools are there except for focus and consistency to be in the ring. He's young, what the hell is he doing being so inactive? He's another name to add to the American Glass Hearts list lol.

Well, just based on what's been said in this thread it's more that Emanuel Steward doesn't like Diaconu for his man.

A trainer pooh-poohing a match still counts as the camp ducking. It shouldn't be put on the individual boxer, though - unless the refusal can not be attributed to anyone else (ie manager/trainer/promoter).

 

Dan should just stop tweeting about things that aren't 100% set in stone, to save us all this back-and-forth drama.

Of course, that would eliminate well over half his tweets.

 

I seem to recall the fight being signed and Diaconu pulling out a week before the fight, forcing Dawson to fight Epi Mendoza instead.

 

Could possibly be that Dawson doesn't want to fight a bum on an undercard. They could have at least gotten him, a real bum like Shumenov or something, instead of a guy that Pascal already beat twice. Why not match Dawson with Cloud, that would make sense. Diaconu had no business even being mentioned as an opponent.

 

Dawson bettter step up to the ****ing plate here. Diaconu is a sure win for any world class operator and if Dawson thinks he deserves big paydays then he should take the fight, whoop Diaconu's ass, and then call out the champ!

If Dawson can't get passed Diaconu then he has no business on HBO.

 

HBO told Dawson and Stewart : you have to fight Diaconu (not ducking this time) or no more HBO for you.

 

God only knows!! A few years ago on a "future of boxing" type thread Pimp C said Dawson was the best pure boxer on the planet not named Mayweather. I chimed and said he was destined to become one of "the faces of boxing." Many other posters wholeheartedly supported our claims, but look at Dawson now!! I guess it goes right back to the old proverb, "Never fall in love with a fighter, 'cuz he'll break your heart everytime."
