Then the Bute fight is perfect for Taylor to get that shot. So far at 168 all he's done is beat Lacy, which nobody cares about at this point. He beats Bute and then it is the fight for the 168 lb division. Or visa versa. You can't call Taylor vs. Kessler the fight for 168 lb division. There's way too many players.

Taylor v. Bute makes more money than Taylor v. Kessler because:

    1. The fight would take place at a reasonable hour, in Montreal, allowing 20,000 people to attend, instead of at 3-4 am in the morning in Denmark. It would have to be in Montreal or Copenhagen for it to attract a big gate and make money; Americans aren't really interested in boxing.

    2. It would be PPV in Canada; it wouldn't be in Denmark.

    3. It would attract more viewers in the USA because they've just seen Bute v. Andrade and that had a very dramatic ending.

Taylor v. Bute makes more sense for the Taylor camp than Taylor v. Kessler because:

    1. It's a much easier fight to win and the risk/reward is better.

    2. It could be used to build up towards a Taylor v. Kessler fight down the road, which would be even bigger than a Taylor v. Bute fight down the road.

    3. If Taylor loses his next big fight...his career is in trouble, so it makes sense to take on an easier fight, at this stage...he's not steady at the weight yet and he's only beaten Lacy so far...why not go up in class a bit more gradually rather than jumping right at the top at the tree??

    4. Taylor might as well try and beat Bute before someone else does. Kessler has a higher chance of remaining unbeaten for longer than Bute.

    5. Best till last - and that is Kessler!

Taylor is the name, but he's not the jewel. He's going to get outboxed often at 168.

Whatever the case is, its sad.

Bute should rematching Andrade after that controversial loss, not getting rewarded by the biggest payday and fight in the division.

Taylor is just as bad. He could have fought Froch but he took the easy road, looks like he's doing the same once more.

Up to your old tricks again, I see...

...what controversial loss? Bute BEAT Andrade!:hi:

And how is Taylor taking the easy road by fighting Bute instead of Froch, if Froch beats Pascal? :hi:

    You'll never change...:deal

That was a typo of course, I meant controversial win.

I'll never change, and it looks like Taylor won't in his quest for easier fights. What I was actually saying was Taylor COULD have fought Froch instead of Lacy, he COULD be trying to get a fight with Kessler instead of Bute, but in each case he's looking for the easier fight.

Why are you bringing up Froch-Pascal? For all we know Froch might look a beast in a competetive fight.

I don't see your problem, your damn location says you want a Bute-Andrade rematch. You know that is the fight that should be made. That leaves Kessler-Taylor, the logical fight.

Like Taylor deserves a shot at the ''no 1 '' guy

He deserves it as much as anybody else in the division to be honest, or not far off. Especially since Bute has unfinished business with Andrade. Who else is left that deserves it more?

Is Kessler some beast everybody is afraid of, and you have to "earn" a fight against him?

I don't think so. The fight is beneficial for all parties. Kessler gets a big fight, and recognition in America. Taylor gets recognised as the best fighter in the division.

In a way a Bute-Taylor fight sounds mouth watering. But that leaves Kessler out in the cold with no real big fights left for him. Kessler will be derided for fighting anyone else outside of Bute/Taylor. Taylor v Kessler is the fight to make. Leave Bute fight Larsen in Denmark to increase the hype for a future fight between himself and Kessler.

Well...that's assuming Taylor's promoter cares about anyone but his own fighter. He doesn't. This is a business. Taylor fighting Bute instead of Kessler next is clearly the better risk/reward fight for Taylor. As boxing fans, we all wanted to see either Kessler v. Taylor or Kessler v. Bute...but since Kessler is guaranteed to fight the winner, and since Taylor v. Bute isn't a bad fight at all...why not?

Kessler should have taken care of Dawson, in my view. Not sure why he declined that opportunity...:-(

He is such a good fighter that he needs to raise his profile a lot before someone like Taylor will fight him when there are easier very good fights out there...:conf

    Kessler vs Hopkins

    Taylor vs Bute

    Calzaghe vs Dawson

    Diaconu vs Glen Johnson

    Pascal/Froch vs Dennis Inkin unification

these are the fights that make most sense right now at 168/175

This is what I think will happen too...and they're both great fights...I can't see Hopkins wanting to fight Bute, that's for sure...
