I just read the blog. It looks like Taylor is open to fighting Bute or the Pascal/Froch winner. One guy that he won't be fighting is Dawson. Dawson claims he has no problem making 168 and he'll go down for a meaningful fight. However, DiBella says he won't put Taylor in there with Dawson. Dawson also says he wants either Nard or Calzaghe at 175. Apparently, there also was no remtach clause for his fight against Tarver. Thank God.

Both Taylor and Kessler are playing the risk/reward game, and in one case it makes sense while in the other it doesn't.

Taylor has just one fight at 168, and honestly Lacy is washed up. He needs at least one more bout before trying to take on Kessler, and Dibella probably understands that. I personally think Kessler would dominate Taylor.

That said, Jermain can pretty much call his own shot. He can fight Bute or Froch/Pascal or just about anyone else he wants, save for perhaps Calzaghe at 175. (This would not be a good move for him.)

Kessler, on the other hand, doesn't have nearly the number of money options. Palle was foolish for turning down Dawson out of hand; he might have been able to get Chad down to 171 or something, negating some of the weight effect.

Palle is a lousy promoter, IMO.

Another thing: Dibella also isn't going to put Taylor in against Dawson. There's no doubt in my mind that Dawson would commit to 168 for this fight, because he has wanted to fight Taylor for a long time. There's animosity there going back to the AMs.

Would you mind elaborating if you know any details? Haven't heard this before. Neither Taylor or Dawson seem to be the type to have a longterm beef with another fighter.

Dawson has alluded to this in the past. I don't think it's a blood feud or anything like that, but Chad definitely has said that he wants a piece of Taylor on a somewhat personal basis.

I tried to find a link but couldn't.

    Thanks.

Probably just competition from both of them being big names in the ams at the same time.

Jermain Taylor prefered to fight Lacy in an eliminator for LESS MONEY than fight Froch for the WBC:hey He must be a pretty wealthy guy because he also turned down $6m to fight Calzaghe

Froch's best win is a shot to **** Reid. A version of Reid so shot Jesse freaking Brinkly was competetive against him! If Froch beats Pascal, then what; He'll have a has been Reid and a never was Pascal. Nobody is ducking Froch. Carl Froch doesn't get the big names because he is not important.

According to Hennessey, Froch's promoter, Taylor got less money for Lacy than they offered him to fight Froch, but Dibella was telling a different story before the fight and Froch's people weren't denying it then. Plus the fight would've had to be in the UK because Dibella couldn't sell it in the US, and why take $1.25 million to fly overseas for a non-HBO fight when he can fight on home soil, on HBO, for a similar payday?

Hennessey is ****ing bonkers anyway, he thinks he can get Froch a date at Madison Square Garden for his next fight.

And Taylor's people were asking for $6 million to fight Calzaghe but couldn't get above $5 million gauranteed. This was all leading up to the Spinks fight, after which the discussion quickly turned away from Calzaghe and toward Pavlik, who demolished Miranda on the Taylor/Spinks undercard. I seriously don't think you can make a legitimate argument that Taylor ducked Joe when he gave fans the fight they were frothing at the mouth for when he defended his belts against Kelly.

Ok, Dawson-Kessler at 168, Bute-Taylor. Then the winners of both bouts and why not the losers? Lots of good fights ahead of us. :p

Good Post. JT ducks no one. Hopkins X 2, Winky, Pavlik X2, but he's gonna duck Froch:patsch

Froch and is fans need to realize that in the USA Froch is an ESPN level fighter. I'm not saying he can't be succesful. I'm just saying that he needs to do something besides run his mouth if he wants big fights.

He needs to do what Pavlik did. DiBella wouldn't give Team Pavlik the time of day, but Kelly beat McKart, Zertuche, and Miranda all in impressive fashion, all on american TV, and got his shot. Froch needs to do something similar.
