    Agreed.

Outside of the 10th, only the 1st was close-ish, but Rigo probably deserved that too.

I couldn't believe some of those press scores and two of the official judges there. But the HBO cast did bring a point where these judges dont have those monitors and replays we get to see. This fight was not close at all.

That's no excuse. Neither I or IB for that matter ever wait for no replays but score the rounds at the end. The judges' inability come down to 1) blindness 2) complete lack of schooling on scoring basics 3) bias/corruption.

Most of them have the eye-sight, but the majority doesn't understand that clean effective punching is what matters FULL STOP. There is no other criteria, whoever does the better job at landing decisive punches (which is hard to decide enough) wins the round, not ineffective pressure, not ineffective output, not crowd reaction, not showboating, not coming forward, not making exhale noises. Maybe 3 rounds were close in the clean effective punching category, one was the knockdown round, in the other too Rigo still did enough, he dominated the rest. Any score that is closer than 117-110 is questionable.

It is insulting that those who are getting paid to score or report the fight are the most incapable of doing so.

I was "fortunate" enough to actually get some perspective on how a casual or non-critical watcher could have the fight close, or even Donaire winning. My girlfriend was watching the fight with me, and we were comparing round-by-round scores. My score was identical to Lederman's (which isn't something to be proud of, but this time it worked out). She had it 116-112 Donaire.

Here are some of my favourite quotes:

"The Cuban guy keeps going backwards and backwards. That's an automatic penalty of one point"

"The Cuban guy isn't throwing any punches this round because Nonito is controlling the action"

"I score intimidation and the Cuban guy looks intimidated"

"Nonito is coming forward all the time, and extra credit should go to the fighter who comes forward"

"I gave Nonito a 10-8 in two rounds because running away means you're avoiding a knockdown. I think he hurt the Cuban guy but the camera missed the punch. Why else would he run like that?"

A lot of ringside observers had the fight scored close. Watching live ringside, can produce a much different experience than on TV. This seems like one of those fights where that happened.

Also no exuse. Jim Lampley, Roy Jones Jr., Max Kellerman and Harold Lederman were at ringside and had no problems seeing and scoring like we did. Of course the HBO crew getting it right is a rarity these days, but with seemingly no bias and quite a lot excitement for the match, they had no problems scoring the fight properly.

There were plenty of writers with seemingly no bias who had the fight scored close. I had Rigo winning 11 rounds. However, you have to be logical. You have the TV viewers, the ringside observers, and the judges. All 3 were mixed in regards to the scores being close or a wide margin. You can claim that anyone who disagrees with your score is just biased, but that flies in the face of logic and common sense. Too many people scored the fight close for all of those people to be simply biased.

Who are these unbiased writers who scored it close, how far did they sit, and what drug were they on?

That HBO guy had the score right. Everybody in here knows that Dan Rafael, is clueless on how to score a fight and boxing.

Rd 7,8,9,10 could have went to Donaire. Either the 8th or 9th mighta gone to Rigo, whichever one he landed that uppercut that busted Nonitos lip. Rigo won the 11th and 12th. The first two rds for Rigo werent as dominant but clearly his rds. 115-112(8 rds to 4 with Nonitos kd) or 116-111(9 rds to 3 with Nonitos kd) is fair imo.
