So now we are debating about this quasi-hypothetical "King" status?

The winner will be unified champ and #1 in any unbiased set of rankings, and the big money man in the division. That's really all that matters.

I doubt they will be saddened much if the general forum dubs them a "sub-king" rather than a "full blown king". :rofl

But will Bute face the winner of s6? that's what i wanna know. He might just rematch william joppy or call out Robert Allen.

    It's a complex answer.

If it's Ward and he goes a perfect 5-0 against top 10 opposition, he is ahead of Bute without having to fight him, no matter what Bute does in the meantime.

If it's anybody else they have to fight Bute to become #1.

Showtime has options on the S6 winner.

    Bute is an HBO fighter.

The above will cause serious problems when it comes to making a Bute/S6-Winner fight.

Bute moves up and beats Pavlik

Agreed. The winner of the S6 should fight Bute, and if he wins he's the best SMW. Bute though, even if he's my favorite SMW, I won't crown him as the best SMW even if he beats the winner of the S6. He's gonna have to fight 1-2 more S6 participants for him to be the best SMW.

Not true.... by the time the finals of the super six come along either Dirrell or Abraham will be eliminated and will be matched against Bute. I beleive they both beat Bute so by the time the winner or the Super Six is announced Bute wont be so highly regarded.

    excuse my ignorance on Bute..

But who has he fought to suddenly make him a potenital no1???

Going life and death with andrade(arguably lost 1st fight) and beating a faded miranda surely does not make you no1 in the division?!

Compare that to froch who has fought Pascal, Taylor,Dirrell, kessler back to back.
By no means am i saying froch is the best smw outof the 6 but he has fought arguably stiffer competition in succession.

No doubt ill have people shooting me down but has Bute really fought anyone as good as in the tourney.

He defended 5 times its title and he beats guys in outstanding fashion! Guys that were never KO'd before.
KO Kabary Salem. The guy that went 12th rounds with J.Calzaghe and the one that put Calzaghe down with a hard right hand in the 4th round. (This was the first and only time Salem was stopped in his career)
KO Andrade (dropped him 3 times in the first and second match) - a guy that went twelve rounds with Calzaghe and was never dropped before
KO Miranda that beat Green - a guy that went twelve rounds with Ward
He beat Lolenga Mock, famous for coming very close to stopping the current undisputed cruiserweight champion, David Haye, back in 2003
Sakio Bika - top 10 super middleweight
He KO Donnie McCrary who almost pulled the upset of the year against Allan Green back in 2006
    KO Zuniga, Joppy etc.

26wins-21-TKO(KO)-0 looses is much better then Ward's record

BTW: Kessler was never the best SMW before supersix. Never was and never will be. And Green is the most overrated boxer ever. So much for Ward's accomplishments...

    BS!!!
    Rafeal has shet for brains.

Super 6 = SIX of the world's top SMW.
Bute is 1 "C" level fighter who has fought NO ONE to justify his top spot. His fault he is not in the Super 6. His fault if he is left behind because his management failed to make competitive matches from him. LOL, he reminds me of a prime Joe Calzaghe who also fought no one but bums and got called, great.
    Simple arithmetic escapes Rafealian logic.

This is ****ing bollocks. The Super Six have all fought each other, all with varying styles and lost and won fights. Bute isn't the top dog even if he beats the winner (whose could stylistically suit him perfect). He has to beat the winner and another one or two of the super six to be king. Styles make fights, the super six had to take on all styles of top guys, Bute will have to face one and he will be crowned the king if that style suits him.

Staying out of the super six proved to be a wise decision for him in business terms.

I don't like the idea of Bute leaving all the other top guys beat each other up in multiple fights and then take on the winner and be crowned king (if he wins), he needs to do more than that. He'll probably lose to the winner anyway, so it could be moot.
