He may or may not be right about how the fight went, but I really don't like his tone when he describes fighters. Incredibly disrespectful. http://espn.go.com/blog/dan-rafael/post/_/id/3946/burns-lucky-to-survive-gonzalez
'out of nowhere, Gonzalez quit' err Dan, maybe its called not being able to cope with the intensity that Ricky Burns makes you fight at, having to switch hit cos your arms are getting so so tired trying to keep the Rickster off. Lucky fighters get hometown decisions, they DONT make you quit before the championship rounds. Dan used to be OK with Burns, but Broner mania seems to have taken a firm hold & robbed most people of their senses, even Rafael, who I respect as a writer. Even big Dan has fallen for Broner burning dollar bills & beating Gavin Rees, as if thats enough to make you a superstar nowadays...:-(
I agree that he kind of negates the fact that Burns made him quit, but I find the rest of the article to fairly spot on despite is Author being a grade A twat. It was a horrible performance from Burns and to suggest otherwise is to be blinkered. Yes he showed unbelievable heart and resiliance and he came through and for that he should be commended. He showed what it is to be a champion. But Gonzalez through the fight away, he didn't have it in the tank and shot his bolt. So really I find it hard to argue with much of this article. Horrible performance by Ricky but I'm sure it will be better next time.
I hate Fat Dan with a passion but too actually find it hard to argue with most of that review as much as it pains me.
it is... we got tons of ATG's now, don't you follow boxing? he's says very, very sarcastically... I'm with ya man, Broner is another Hype job like so many, many of them. Burns IS a bit one dimensional, he's got to offer more from here on in, or the writings on the wall.
Dan Rafael sucks big elephant dicks at his job and DKSAB, but he didn't really say anything I disagree with aside from that Gonzalez doesn't have what it takes to be a champion and that Broner would beat Burns. His analysis of the fight was accurate, not that I give him credit, because there wasn't much to analyze in depth. "Gonzalez makes Burns his beeeitch, then the fight turns around and 2 rounds later Gonzalez quits." Agreed on his tone though. Mother****er acts like he knows what it takes to be a top level fighter when the toughest thing he's ever done is wrestle the bald-headed champ 3 times a day.
I think the general opinion of dan in britain is a bad one, he has always been on broners dick, never once did he mention ricky breaking his heart, or praise ricky in anyway, during his slagging off of all things british on twitter last night i said "give ricky some credit dan, if he was american it would have been the greatest comeback of all time" how did dan respond? what any respected boxing reporter would do, BLOCKED ME, the guys a joke
Blocked you for that?? I pulled him up on summat the one time, about how he made a sweeping generalisation about British fans, and he claimed he hadn't. So I quoted his exact words, and he kinda conceded.
Typical arm chair deluded moron. The way he slags some fighters off is hilarious, would love to see the fat mess lace up some gloves and step in the ring himself.
Dans a fat dick who has nothing better to do than criticise those that he wishes he could be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T25m9TQ03N8
