He won every second of every round against a top 10 SMW. How many guys win 120-108 on every card? Fanhouse scored it 120-106. Here's Michael Rosenthal's(ring magazine) analysis of Ward after that fight; "Andre Ward: Ward isn’t in the class of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao – yet. The 2004 Olympic gold medalist is the pound-for-pound king of the near future, as he demonstrated again by shutting out Allan Green in the Super Six tournament on Saturday in Oakland, Calif. Ward doesn’t have a significant weakness, his apparent lack of one-punch knockout power being the only possible deficiency. He’s skillful, athletic, tough, smart and as well-conditioned as any fighter in the world. He fought extremely hard every second of a 12-round fight and didn’t seem to be tired at the end. He also has a secret weapon: unusual maturity, a trait that will help him climb to the top of the boxing world and stay there a while. I don’t use this word to describe many fighters but it applies to Ward: special."
Wards performance was impressive. I don't see anything wrong with what he said. Ward has been impressive for this whole Super 6 hell he arguably hasn't lost a round in two fights.
yeah...sports analysts don't know what they are talking about either... just the people here that think ward sucks.... ****ing ridiculous.
Truth be told, I think Iole(sp?) at yahoo also wrote a glowing article. These are boxing "experts", you know?
This is ridiculous. The guy dominates completely for the 2nd time in a row and there's umpteen thousand threads about how much he sucks. Haters, give it a rest.
Ward is boring and that fight was snoozefest. But hes also impressive since he is an outstandig allround boxer. He can do various styles has a good skillset okay power good speed and is physicially strong. his footwork is great and so is also defense with some old school elements you barely see in todays boxing. I dont like him but he is really good. I didnt read the article yet and i´m not too sold on that Ward is going to win the Super6 but i dont have doubts Ward would beat Bute. Bute will loose if he faces an better skilled opponent.
im a fan of oldschool boxing, where you take away your opponents strengths and impose yourself a la Hopkins. Ward thoroughly impressed me.
Um, the thread starter is a Bute fan. The way you posed your question and that smilie make me think you have a vagina.
He is exactly right. I dont see how giving someone praise for locking someone out for 12rds and beating him every minute of the fight isnt praiseworthy. Green didnt open up cuz he woulda been knocked out. Green fought to survive and Ward gave him a beating for it and roughed him up. Good tough inside fight for Ward who really hasnt lost but maybe 1-2 rds so far in the super six.
