Here is the interview he refers to Elite XC consultant Gary Shaw said he wouldn’t hesitate to “go to a fighter and say, ‘We’re looking for a stand-up fight.’ You’re not asking him to throw a fight. You’re talking about a fan-friendly fight, not about protecting Kimbo.” Shaw said he has urged MMA fighters in the past to maximize the action, to avoid an abundance of yawn-inspiring wrestling. “Do I think that’s unethical? No,” Shaw said. “Because in MMA, you get bonus money for a knockout. I don’t see it as unethical . . . asking him to be TV and fan friendly.”
I don't know about you Beebs, but if Shaw or his son came upto me talking in that tone, i'd have alot to say. Urging fighters "to avoid yawn-inspiring wrestling" ? Saying "we're looking for a stand up fight" This is maddness, crazy. How dissrespectful is that ? To the sport as a whole, and the mma fighters in general who train so hard to perfect their craft. No wonder Dana was so angry, at least the guys passionate about the sport..
Hate to say it but spot on for White. If Shaw really did those things then he should be in some serious legal troubles.
lol they should have put kimbo in a boxing match then. im sure the trailer park series would take him
Dana is correct - but I'm sure there is more than just a touch of opportunism at play as he sees a chance to press the advantage against the competition. That said - who gives a ****? The integrity of MMA as a sport is at stake here.
Dana's right but it's like he gives a **** about the sport, too. He's just tryna protect his cash cow and has taken to the moral high ground to do so. But funny interview, nonetheless, if for nothing more than his colorful adjectives and nouns.
